tried posting this AM computer or internet conked on me. Had repair men out 3 times still having trouble.....
Weather is beautiful today. such a relief from all that humidity. DH and I have been married 45yrs today. good health, beautiful family and a nice place to live. (even though something always needs repairing) Hope our children and grandchildren are able to have the same..

all chickens even meat birds made it through the heat, fortunately we have a big maple in the middle of the run and lots of under brush, lilacs, and wild berry bushes for the meat birds to hide in. I am impressed with the Freedom Rangers, I am sure the cornish X would not have fared so well.

Welcome Hippychickster :frow lots of good people here willing to help

congrats,on the double yoke, I love my EE's hey are good layers

Happy Anniversary snowflake. 45 years is a long time.

Stupid barn cats got my little speckled Sussex chick today. Only one I had too. Reached right under the fence and pulled it out. I caught them trying to get another one. I knew there was a reason I hated cats !! About as much good as tits on a boar hog !! Let the rats go and get chicks. Worthless things anyway.

You should go by my motto...only good outdoor cat is a dead outdoor cat!

I just caught my neighbor spraying Round-up on the other neighbor's tomatoes. It wasn't Crabby, it was the bi-polar guy on the other side of me. This is the same guy who sprayed my herb garden.
I have crazies on either side of me.

Thank you so much Jen. Let me know when is a good time for you. I am so bummed about that chick. And I agree with you about a dead cat. I just hate cats !! These stupid cats gets wet and dry food everyday plus you know on a farm there is always mice and rats. They need to leave my chicks alone or they won't be around anymore.

Is he physically going into that neighbor's yard to spray the tomatoes? How far did he have to trespass to poison your plants? That guy is seriously messed up, killing food plants on other people's property! Isn't that illegal in so many ways, or do the police not care?

I got a speckled also from Randy. I think he may be a boy.. No cats can get them. They are in a brooder for another 2 weeks a the very least. Then, they will go to the coop the meaties are in and that is moved inside the big run and then a section fenced for them.

There is a man who is going to come later this week and pick out 4 birds for his daughters. They do not have birds now, only just built a coop and run. Never have had chickens, so I feel comfortable that I will not be giving some one elses birds an illness. They are getting layers right off from the chuckles group. They may also take a few of the ones that were broody hatched... Dunno, we'll see what his daughters like.

Snowflake, congrats on the marriage. If I had still been married, we'd be at 18 years tomorrow. Instead, yesterday was the 7 year anniversary of my divorce. Only thing, we are still very close friends, we did not divorce out of spite for each other, but because we really did get married to young and we really did grow in very different directions. Example, he's a city boy through and through, and I have turned into a hillbilly chicken/veggie hobby farmer. LOL

I had to work today, as usual... I came home to a house completely trashed. My mom was busy playing cards at the table, and the boys dad was downstairs sleeping. Nothing like a 6yr old and a 3 yr old left to their own devices for entertainment. Needless to say I was/am so angry over the whole thing. Sundays are very tiring for me. I go to work at 10 pm for my press route. I stand for nearly 2 hours in a hot building putting the papers together, then I spend another 5 hours getting them delivered, spending one of the those five hours walking. I get home at 5 am or shortly after, and take a nap, get up, let the birds out and make sure there is enough food and fresh water, then take another short nap, get up and go to work again at noon, and drive around delivering another paper for another 3 hours only to come home to total chaos. So total BS. And I still have dinner to make and evening chores to do. I swear I live in a house with 2 other useless adults. You'd think that on Sunday... the hardest day of the week for me, that I'd have some help? Consideration? So I threw a tantrum, broke a metal spatula and finally got dinner finished. The boys cleaned the toy room, and I have a load of laundry downstairs that I need to now rewash since it has been dumped all over my bedroom, trampled by kids and dogs a like, and NOT ONE DANG PERSON IN THIS HOUSE KNOWS HOW THAT HAPPENED! You have to be effen kidding me.

AND To top off my day... Sister is back in the hospital with fluid in the lungs, a blood pocket below her rib over her liver that has not absorbed, and a few pockets of bile. No leak though, so the surgery is holding and that is healing well. They do not think she has pneumonia, and plan to do fluid cultures tomorrow, and dumb her up and try and syphon off the bile pockets that did not drain with bile bags and tubes. Oh joy. BUT, at least her liver and stomach are on the mend.

RaZ, I am thinking you need to video the crazy guy for evidence of what he is doing. I think you need to have cameras rolling on your yard period...

Don't get me wrong... I like cats... BUT I do not like cats that kill chickens. They need to go to a different farm...

Nope. The spray/squirt can travel 10-20 feet or more. PD says that unless they see it they can't do anything.

PD said to set up cameras but be sure that they don't cross property lines. However, it doesn't cover stuff thrown over the fence.
