I had a couple quotes before these, but I lost them. No idea what they were anymore, now...

Could you put them into a homemade pudding or something? Most desserts can be made with soy milk also. There are so many good amino acids in yolks.... Yolks are one of the few complete proteins, and the closest in nutrition to meat. Sorry to be gross, but i think of them in a way as (a bird's) mother's milk..... ? Is that less gross than whatever you are thinking?

I don't know, DH and I tried my milk in our coffee once, and that pretty well grossed me out, not sure thinking of eggs as chicken milk will help.

DH thought it was great, cream and sugar in one!

Anyway, I do use them in all sorts of things, and it is easier to ignore them that way, these days it is mostly straight up egg that still freaks me out.

Two of my ISA Browns are laying. I got 2 nice, dark brown eggs today for my b-day. They are a deep rich brown, not as chocolate as Marans but still pretty dark. It's the little things that make me happy.

Happy Birthday, Raz! Cancer, eh.. I'll buy that.

Baby chick must think it is too warm to be roosting UNDER Mama Hen, haha.

Awwwwww

Oh yes and Happy Birthday Mr. Olive, too, and I keep forgetting to add, good luck, Silly on the contest!!!

I just ****** my hen Hawk off to high heaven. Lets back up though... For several days during the heat, only got a few eggs a day. Last several days been getting 9-11 from 14 hens that are laying, Not bad really, with the random off day of 8. SO, today I hear a hen laying an egg in the front yard under the front windows. So tonight, I asked my mom to look in the hosta for an egg because a hen laid one in there today. She's looking around and she says she doesn't see an egg, but she does see a chicken. I go over and have a look-see and there is Hawk, all hunkered down. OK, she decided its a nice cool spot for egg laying. An hour later, I come back to get her egg and the morning egg, and she is still there. I touch her and she has a screeching fit. SO, I took her off and lo and behold!! This is what I find!

Now, I would not have known she was there because when I let go of the hosta leaves, it is completely concealed. One of the eggs was still stuck under her wing when I picked her up and fell on the steps. I let her eat it as a consolation prize. LOL. Would any one like to guess how many eggs are in this depository? Oh, hell, I'll just give the answer... 22. And there are eggs for several different bodies here. OMG! LOL. I went and checked the other hostas as well. I forgot to check the dahlias though.... day lilies... GO CHICKENS!

Oh, but why do I say Hawk was royal mad? She was still out there throwing a freaking fit and has literally only just finished.

I know right. She was only just starting to sit, the eggs weren't even hot yet, so I am thinking they are probably ok to nosh. And I only know this, because Hawk was on the roost last night, in the yard all day yesterday, most the day today. There is no way I am going to have another broody right now, especially if she decides to do it in the foliage. If she were in a nest box, I'd probably let her have 3. Already I am going to have a lone chick in a week and a half or less. I am going to have to go back and find my post where I say Skatter is broody, so I can remember what day I let her keep the eggs. I am thinking that she and the heat were the reason for the hosta nest. Its very very cool there. LOL.
