Finally got my weeds mowed. I talked to my neighbor who's lived here for 50 years and this is the first time they've ever gotten a ticket; my other neighbor got one too. Sounds like the whole city is noncompliant

Just got off the phone with BYFM-
she is now my witness to my chickens telling me off because they have pellets in their bowl instead of crumble. I accidentally bought the wrong kind.
And Olive you are off the Uggo hook. Both Uggo babies have curling up feathers to be frizzled. SO, they are going to go live with Ashley and she is going to post pictures and give us Uggo updates. Just got to figure out how to get them from here to there...Randy, dont you need to drive out there for something?

I got a HUGEEEEEE egg from my Notmeaty today. I think that she has been eggstipated or something. Poor thing, I feel sorry for her. It has to be from her, because I am certain if it was from one of these banties, they would be dead.

JOHN- Clover is doing well. She quite enjoys living in my Utility room while it is so hot outside. She loves feet- and runs over to anyone who walks through and sits on their feet. :)

I had a lot of thunder earlier today, but not a drop of rain!

Any ideas on how to keep Bambi from nibbling on your tomato plants? They are planted right outside my front door. The are about 3 - 4 feet tall and the tops have been eaten off. I don't think Thumper did it, too tall.

Oh, no. I am so sorry to hear about your guy :( I have been worried about my flock with all this crazy heat. I put a fan in the window of their coop to keep air moving and kept freshening their water as it heated in the sun. I am really hoping August and September are cooler than July has been.

Just poking my nose in to say hi . . . I'm a tad northeast of Lansing, new to chickens and a victim of chicken math. What I thought was a dozen is, in fact, 21 chickens.
Anyway, I only know one other person with chickens near me, so a holler in my direction is welcome anytime. :)
welcome normanack

Here's a few pics I took from my front porch. As you can see, there is no living grass and the plantain weeds are everywhere with a few chicory spread around. I could understand if I was neglecting my lawn but it's been 90+ for the past 2 weeks and the first day it's in the 80s, they give me a ticket and I can't even mow because it's raining grrrr! I'll be the first to admit the weeds are long but 24 hours to cut them is ridiculous especially when the notice was left at 6am. I think its a ploy to make the city money. The officer who stopped by was nice about it and also thought it was crazy because he had another 150 houses to go to in a town with a population of 3446 in 2010.
your yard looks like mine did last week before I cut the weeds, weeds are the only thing growing right now
Hello. I am in Michigan. My backyard is on the MI/OH border. We are new to raising chickens. We have 9 birds that were supposed to be girls, but I suspect one them is actually a he:) I have 4 kids, a bearded dragon, 2 buff Orpington, 2 black Australorp, a barred rock, a silver laced Wyandotte, a golden laced Wyandotte and 2 Ameraucana. I am thinking actually EE, in truth and one of them being the s/he.

I read once to sprinkle wood ash on them nothing will eat them and it doesn't hurt the plant
