Anyone's yards/runs drying up at all? I don't remember this much standing water in our yard over the last few years. I think I need some ducks, they would feel right at home here.
MJ - that is great about the chicks! Wanna swap a Serama chick or two? We lost one, and have three left. When is the hatch date for the other few that went into your bator?

Ok here it is. It actually used to be our trailer that we lived in years ago before we built our house. We gutted out the trailer and re-used parts of to build the chicken coop. Pardon the junk around behind it
we are getting ready for dump day, among other things. Yes I put a chair inside the pen so I could sit with my chickens. My hubby laughed at me and said he can tell that I am getting old
You're chickens have got to absolutely love you! Look at all the room they have
I think you need more chicks!!!!! Tee-hee!
I have 20, i think that is enough for now and they do love me. I went out to give them some scraps today and they were following me.
Today hubby put in an electric fencer around the fence and Kodi, the husky, got zapped by it.
He ran like a bat out of --ll and then gave me a look like it was my fault! He had been trying to dig under the fence and biting at the fence. I think he may keep his distance now, I hope.
Opa, I have learned that I should not question my husband when I think he is just making more work for himself, because he too was hauling tractor bucket loads of sand to put in the chicken pen before he put the fence up. We have not had any flooding problems in the pen because of his extra work.

That is good to hear HBH. I learned that I can't trust our husky, it is instinct for her. If it is in the yard, it's fair game. It's sad to see how many things she gets. Tell your husband congrats, he is a smart man. I don't think Kodi will mess with the chickens again, or not so close anyway!!
It is also a good idea about the sand in the run. I have been dealing with a lot of flooding lately, and the girls are wadding in puddles through the yard too! Your chickens are loving you, enjoy them.
Okay---I must go to sleep. I tried to stay awake to view MJ's pics by playing horse racing on Facebook, but I am too tired to do it anymore.
Good night all.........................I'll check again for pics in the am.
Hi Keleka
Kodi is good about not chasing the wild turkey's or deer that come in our "yard" and he is good with our 3 cats and rat terrier. However the squirrels and chipmunks are fair game. Yesterday I quietly said that there was a chipmunk by the bird feeder and Kodi and Pippin [the rattie] just about killed themselves trying to get to the door.
I am worried that the little rat terrier might get zapped by the fence, if he does it might blow all his hair off!
