sounds like my mom. she has SO much art all the grandkids have made for my step dad and her. she LOVES taking them. she says it's her privilege and not her 'duty'.

I love my little ones gifts!! My five year old could hardly contain herself and has been telling me all week she made me "Tallulah flowers". So today I opened her little scroll to footprints in blue and red made into flowers and little poem, tulips are red, tulips are blue, I made these tootsey tulips, just for you!

Those were her "tallulah flowers!" They were adorable, by the way!

My 9 year old made me a little ceramic dish with a lid in art and a MOM keychain.

Sam, I think you were probably the best Mr. Mom of your time!! I would imagine there were not too many around when your boys were little. How lucky they were to have such a great Dad (and Mom!)!

Vicki - it was nice seeing you again and meeting your hubby! My hubby and kids dug a temporary duck pond today. The ducks went bonkers! It was pretty cool to see how happy it made them. I'll try and get pics posted.

Just got back from taking Hope and Granny out for a Mothers Day dinner. I sure am fortunate to still have my mother.

I got a little bit done on the chicken tractor today and finally got around to taking pictures of the Orpington bantams I got from ShelleyB1969. They certainly are beautiful birds and the little rooster is so funny when he tries to crow. Thanks again Michelle they are very welcomed additions to my bantam flock.

I just put 6 welsummer eggs under a silver ameraucana that I got from Wynette. She sure is a pretty little things. I guess she is a cross between a standard and a bantam. I got 2 last summer and they both have been very consistent layers of pretty green eggs. But since she is broody I figured I might as well put her to work

Hi,
I am brand new to BYC and chickens themselves. I'm in the Thumb of Michigan also. (brown city)
I am looking for hatcheries close or I have to order from the local store. I am looking for 10- 20 layers and 50-100 broilers. Right now people have suggested barred rock and black australorps. I may have to go for a mixed box as I can't decide... HELP PLEASE

Welcome Kassy68, I am glad you have found us. ShelleyB1969 is also from Brown City. You should check with her to see what she has available. I do know she has some beautiful birds.

If you are looking to buy some very good layers with a calm demeanor you could go wrong with black australorps. My son has been raising them for years and you can't find a much more consistent layer. They winter well and will continue laying through the winter. I know mine laid very well. If I can ever help you in anyway please feel free to contact me.

Hello Kassy,

Welcome to BYC! I can vouch for Miss Jane's farm/hatchery (Dollhouse Farms)... It is a fantastic place with lots of variety to offer and beautiful healthy birds. Meat birds as well. (Turkeys, geese and ducks as well.) Have fun picking!
