Wow this thread is active! I haven't been on in a couple of days due to moving and such and I have 50 pages worth of stuff to catch up on

My chicks are getting huge. So, we're working on building a coop at the new house. This is something we've never done before so its a little intimidating. But, hopefully the chickens will have a big predator proof house pretty soon

I'll take pics as soon as its finished. I'm working pretty slowly since I'm so paranoid about predators. A friend of mine just lost most of her flock to a dog a couple of weeks ago and I want to try to prevent that as much as possible.

if you can find branches about 3" in diameter, they will work.

2x4's work well too. the chickens can roost and snuggle down and cover their feet with their feathers to stay warm in winter.

'bout time you posted. i was beginning to think i should send out Lapeer's finest to find you!

Now, I need to work on the flower garden in front. Does any one want grape hyacinths? They went nuts in my garden and I need to thin them out. Hate to throw them away. So, if anyone near me wants some/alot, just let me know and you can come get as many as you want or we can meet up somewhere.

I might just use 2x4's, I think I have some laying around. Then I dont have to worry as much about frostbite.

Yeah I'm still alive

Hello fellow michiganders, thought I would say Hi and introduce my self as I fugure I am compleatly committed to this chicken thing. My brother in law talked me into getting chickens last spring and I figured why not even though I need more to do like I need a hole in my head.

So now I have Five Birds that are a year old (1 white crested black polish, 2 barred rocks, and 2 buff orps) and Six 7 wk olds (2 white rocks, 4 RIR) (Lost 2 White rocks tothe Duck pond) and that brings me to the 2 Ducks I now have.

To top all that off I just ordered 15 more (5 to goto a friend) that will arrive Tuesday....

any how, Hello Everyone...

From Bay City

Hey everyone, I want to share my new boy!! We are getting a livestock guardian dog!! We chose a maremma. I actually put a deposit on him a while back but the breeder was having trouble uploading new pics to her computer, so I just got his picture. He is about 2 months old in this pic, his name will be Windance Remington At The Ready! We will call him Remi. We have chosen to leave him with his breeder for extra training and will pick him up when he is five months old. She will teach him basic manners, start him on goats, chickens, geese and ducks (everything we have), have him neutered, finish his shots, teach him to respect fences, no jumping, etc. We can't wait!! Here he is:
