Morning all!! Looks like a beautiful day!!

My oldest daughter (child #2) graduates today!

That is the good news, the bad news, something got in my barn last night, can't wait for my LGD!! Got past 6 adult geese and 8 half grown geese and 2 adult male muscovies to get in one of my brooder boxes and eat 3 half grown chicks and a duckling!!

I am guessing a coon. Trap will go out tonight, along with a radio and we will leave the barn lights on. I am just sick.

I know coons can get in most any cage, so I am worried about everyone else.

Thank goodness I had just moved Mama muscovy and her babies yesterday!! Otherwise they would have been right beside the attack! I moved her to a pen by herself because the baby geese were picking on the ducklings and mama muscovy was having a hard time protecting all 10 babies.

I know I am getting my shovel and my pitchfork out and having them handy!! That and my little handgun, keeping that ready and loaded, shotgun might hit my other animals too, don't want that!

What is good coon bait for my trap? Something they won't be able to resist but hopefully won't tempt my silly cats? I don't get to cranky about the coons sharing my cat food occasionally, but I take exception to them eating my friends!!

They don't know who they are messing with!!

That is what I usually use Sam, but was afraid that my cats would just get caught in the trap. Might do it anyway, because it will be in the pasture close to the barn, or in the barn, so cats might not bother it at night, since it will be by the geese.

What a day! Me and my husband need to learn to relax once in awhile. We re-rotatilled the gardens, planted both of them, actually got caught up on laundry, buried that coon, painted a mural in the coop, on top of all the usual chores, kids, meals, cleaning and taking care of the animals. It feels good to get so much done though.

Vicki good luck getting that coon. Hope everyone had a nice weekend too.

Viki, do you have traps and stuff like that? I use the moist cat food (not that I feed it to my cats, but it is smellllllllllllly!)

tonight since predation has stepped up a notch, so will I.... setting out 2 large traps, and 2 sets of poisoned bait.......... I am praying for a miracle and tellin the neighbors down the road to keep their cats locked up tonight

My in laws who live next door, through the woods, have been having problems with coons too. FIL managed to trap one big mean one and is re-setting the trap again. They had about 7 the other night, tearing down the bird feeder and such. So far they have not been here. I don't think they have anyway. Just in case, we are leaving the electric fencer on the chicken coop.

Whew! Graduation is over!! It was a gorgeous day and everything went wonderfully!!

Open house is not for 2 weeks, so small break.

Just finished doing my evening chores, put the radio in the barn, left the lights on and set up the trap with canned catfood and marshmellows!! I will also be checking out there every few hours, because if I catch a cat, I want to reset it quickly before the coon comes in and wreaks havoc while the cat sits in the darn trap!!
