My garden is not doing so good, either. The cukes have grown a little from last week's hot weather. Tomatoes look awful. I actually have planted the cukes three times!! I replaced 2 tomatoe plants. Pepper plants.. I don't think they have grown at all since I put them in. How frustrating!! Weeds are doing great, tho!! Just about ready to give up.

Our garden is a little behind due to it being so wet and getting a late start. But everything is growing very well so far. Couple more days and I will have summer squash and zuccini. Cherry tomatoes and green beans are blossoming. Sweet corn may actually be close to knee high by the 4th of July.

Hey everyone. We have 28 chickens and 2 large BBW turkeys in the chicken yard and coop. We have more turkeys we got from MJ. Two of them are getting to big for the big brooder and really need to go outside with everyone else. I was hoping to wait till the roos and BBW go into be butchered as the pecking order will get all screwed up when we do that so I thought great time for introductions. But like I said the sweetgrass turkeys are getting to big and need more space. I read MJ says to put them in at night and others say dog crate inside coop for a slower intro. The SG turkeys are every bit as big as the 14 week old chickens but the BBW are getting huge. Close to 20 lbs now. One turkey is fat and slow. The other likes to run and free range with the chickens. She is the one I would worry about. Well what do you guys think. And yes I searched and read a lot about intoducing new chickens into the flock. I just wanted your views. Thanks.

as for the garden, it is off to a slow start, I have lost one tomatoe plant and possibly another one, one of my cucumber hills was completly washed away from the downpours we have had, had to replant my cantaloupe and watermelons because they got washed away and the others my bird got into.... the only thing that seems to be doing great are my pumpkin plants (4) they are already vineing out about 3 feet... so at least the kids will have jackolaterns for halloween, lol

Ok, I picked up my fertalized eggs from MSU and the gals are sitting on them - will someone point me in the right direction of learning about this process....I know it takes 21 days, but I would like to know if I should be forcing the hens to get out and eat/drink - what my part is in all of this now and after the chicks are born! As always, thanks for any/all help! NAH

thanks a bunch... the cake is actually cut from a double layer sheet cake by hand, then I decorate it with frosting and tips, this is actually the second guitar cake that I have done so it was not as hard since I have already done one

thanks

no, leave the hens alone. they know what to do.

the eggs from MSU have good fertility rates. (i've hatched two separate batches myself and had nice results)

your part is just to check in now and then. make sure that the nests are where the chicks wont fall out of the nests, so that mom can safely take them out to explore the world.

keep us posted! how exciting!

Evening all. Well, I went and picked up some more pumpkin seeds and I figured that I might as well get some beans, too -- only half of those came up. I am sure we will get some pumpkins even though it's late. I like cooler weather -- it's just not good for gardens!

Awesome looking cake! We love to decorate around here too. We are having the boys B-Day party this weekend. We will be making another Micky Mouse Cake including Chocolate ears!!! Yummy!

Welcome to all the newbies! This is a really neat group.

MJ, my boys are ready. able, and willing to be taste testers! They are already asking when we will be visiting next.

Off to bed, gotta be at work early in the am.
