the eggs from MSU have good fertility rates. (i've hatched two separate batches myself and had nice results)

your part is just to check in now and then. make sure that the nests are where the chicks wont fall out of the nests, so that mom can safely take them out to explore the world.

keep us posted! how exciting!

Thanks MJ - I'm excited too - the eggs are all bantams, which is a bit of a concern for me that these youngins will be so much smaller than my standard, but all the same, I'm excited to be going thru this process! THANK you MJ for you input! The nesting boxes are about 2 ft above the floor of the coop, so I think I'll wait until after the hatching to move everyone to the lower level - and YES, I'll keep everyone posted! 20 days to go - MJ thanks SO MUCH for pointing me in the right direction with the Poultry facility at MSU - Certainly was not difficult to identify Angelo from the group on site when I went over there this afternoon!!!

i did cornish x last year and loved them. this year i am doing dixie rainbows. they are looking more and more exciting all the time. last night i dreamed about comparing crispy chicken skin of the rainbow and the naked neck (which is the number one meat bird in France. no joke.)

come down here and get some rainbows right now missy ma'am and get to frying!

hustonn, you are more than welcome. Angelo is a nice guy and easy to work with. the bantams will most likely be alright with the bigger chickens, but you'll just have to eyeball it when you get there.

Want some eggs? You've got an incubator?

I don't have an incubator right now, but I'm looking to get one. MJ volunteered to hatch a few eggs for me, but I just gave her 10 so I don't want to overload her. I'll see if I can get something together. Thank you so much for the offer.

Good Morning everyone. Enjoy the cool down. Sure wish I had the day off to weed the garden, I have been way to busy to do that the last few weeks. I will have to work it in sometime. I think that darned DH of mine broke his foot again. Never a good time for that.

Everyone have a great day!!

Coffee is going down well. Feeling better. Just wish the neighbor girls wouldn't of told my boys about some scary movie they watched. They each had me up 2 times. Never at the same time either. Need more coffee.

Freebie I hope your husband foot is not broken. Can I be nosey and ask how he hurt it?

I had a great day yesterday. After mopping the floors of course.

I got to meet Opa, and he is just as nice in person as he is on line. I got a couple of welsummers from him. Then my DH took me out to dinner. We haven't been out to dinner in a coon's age!

Briana, I remember those days well. My oldest used to watch the Ghostbusters cartoons when he was little. Never had a problem with it till there was an episode with a monster in the closet.

Then we had a lot of sleepless nights.

Yep, then when he was a young teen he wanted to watch Stephen Kings "IT". He pleaded and begged and said that he would not be scared. I relented but told him if he ended up having bad dreams that he would never watch anything like that again. He has been watching scary movies since.

He is almost 26 now.

Aww... I love "IT". Well, not really... who does?

Good Morning all! I probably won't be online tomorrow as it is my b-day and I will be traveling down south to Indiana with family for the day.

We will eat lunch down there and tour Fair Oaks Farms before heading back for hot dogs and smores over an open campfire. It should be a good day.

Aww... thank you all. I love the day my birthday is on. July 2nd is the very middle day of the year on non-leap-year years! Also, rare is it that my dad has to work on my b-day because he usually gets the 2nd and 3rd off for Independence day!
