Get that hoe out and get to work. Get one of those stirrup hoes (Home Depot has some good ones for around $16).

Then get some old straw or hay and mulch mulch mulch. Did I say mulch?

I would love to but my back can't handle it this year. Broke 7 bones in my back falling down the basement steps in December. Still not up to par. I'm always up for volunteers though

it is the type that you just take the bottom half of the weed whacker off and then you can exchange the tool at the bottom. all sorts of things can go on then.

Home Depot has a bunch of things that can go on. not too expensive either. and they are not super heavy. easily handled.

chickflick is right. they work great. i forget the brand, but i think there were a couple of brands and they could interchange too.

you should check them out this w'end. i bet there are sales like crazy.

Good afternoon! Still chilly but I kinda like it. The rain seems to be gone. Got a call from the tractor dealership. Tractor is in, just waiting on the bucket and mower deck. We are gonna rush up there this evening so I can get paperwork done and my husband can sit and drool on it.

Briana,

make sure they give you the weights that go on the 3-point hitch in the back if you guys are getting the loader as well as front grill protector. I had hard time getting those from them after they delivered the tractor and "forgot" those.

Victor.....guess what???? that pretty little muscovy has almost all it's feathers in! it is GORGEOUS! i think it is a female! she wants to come home and stay with you now! the Dels are getting big. should be able to tell males from females soon.

i'll trade you for another turkey!

You should of seen me last night chasing a chicken trying to get it back into the yard. I didn't fall but I was running around with a large butterfly net. Talk about dorky looking.

Hope you feel better MJ.

Art loves the turkeys but I can say he would not trade a tractor for anything. LOL.

Had a little excitement at our house this afternoon! We have a field across the road from us, the guy that owns it plants hay in the front and runs cows in the back. He lives a couple of miles away. I looked out my front window and noticed one of his cows heading for the road. So my oldest daughter and I throw our shoes on and run outside, as we were afraid he would get in the road. I wanted her to go alert the owners, but she insisted on staying with the cow, so I went. Unfortunately, they weren't home. I should mention, we don't even know their names, just where they live.

So I come back and he is trying to cross the road, despite my daughter's best efforts, so we make sure there is no traffic and he trots through the ditch and across the road into our front yard. That is when I noticed he is not a cow or steer, but a bull! A BIG ONE!

A truck stopped and said they knew the owners and knew where their daughter lived and went to see if she was home. Another neighbor stopped and tried to help us keep it in our yard as he wandered around checking things out. He went over to our other neighbors and ate their flowers, came back, ignored the hay I offered, wandered onto our side road (we live on a corner), I coaxed him backed with a bowl of scratch, he ate a few bites and then went into my back yard to check out the goats, then trotted back to the front and out into the road again. We stopped traffic for him and then the owners daughter showed up. While she grabbed her bucket of grain, he approached a stopped car, trotted up and sniffed their grill. Once he seen that grain bucket and got a taste though, he followed right along.

They thanked us and let us know he was their new bull and was pretty tame and was so glad it wasn't their old bull, because he was mean and nasty!

Wow, what a story! I thought ALL bulls were unpredictable? Too bad you didn't get a picture, but I'm guessing a camera was the last thing on your mind. I had a similar thing happen with a neighbor's entire herd of horses (about 10). They all followed one of the horses back to the paddock that I caught and led by his halter (a huge white beauty - he must've stood 17 hands). Afterwards, the neighbor thanked me and said very shockingly - you led my STUD back there? I'm guessing he wasn't typically very sweet, lol.
