Good Morning all. This sure has been a strange summer weatherwise. Temperatures is the 40's for August sure isn't normal. Looks as if this next week is sure going to be pretty. Still it's hard to believe that summer is over. It sure seems that the calendar has sped up somehow. I have a big list of things I needed to this summer and it doesn't seem much smaller, yet the time to get them done is just about gone.

To anyone else looking for DE. Hick's Dairy has it. I bought a 50lb bag last year and remember it being very reasonable. Hicks is where I get my raw milk from, mmm tasty. They deliver all over the place. Highly recommend. Best milk you will ever taste too! All organic raw milk. Here is their site if you are interested.

Consequently they have organic chickens, fortunately I don't need those from them.

Mommi---how is your dad doing and how are you doing? You are in my prayers.

It has been a good morning so far. We did not make it to church----yes, I know we are bad, but for a good reason. DH got a deer!!! Yummy----more venison in the freezer. The deer have been having a field day eating our soys and corn, so now it's their time to give back to us for their summer buffet. Craig was able to get a block permit from the DNR and has been hunting the last couple weeks without success--well, today was finally the day. The 2 oldest kids helped hold the deers legs while DH cleaned it. Littlest DD kept on about how gross everything was, she'd never help, etc................. but when I offered to get her down out of the truck bed so she didn't have to look, she said "No way am I missing out on this." What a silly girl. The kids found the process interesting, especially my possible future veterinarian DD.

HBH----here is the Oven Omelet Recipe

12 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1-2 cups shredded cheese
1-2 cups meat (sausage, ham, bacon, etc........)
1/2 tsp season salt
pepper
1/2 cup minced onion (I just throw in dried minced if in a hurry, which is always)

Beat eggs, milk and seasonings together. Stir in cheese, meat and onions. Pour into a well greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 325 for 40-45 minutes or until cooked all the way through. Do Not Cover while baking. If desired, additional cheese may be sprinkled on top prior to baking.
**feel free to also add in additonal veggies--I tried diced tomato, which was very good. I think I will also try mushrooms and spinach sometime)

Laura, thanks for the recipe, DH loves omlets. Congrats on the deer!
I hvae good news to share, my little welsummer chick is getting better! I do believe she is out of the woods now and is going to be fine. I will name her Gracie.

Anny,
They are in North Branch, but if you check their website they deliver to the East side, Livonia, Ann Arbor, Brighton, maybe a couple more. Check with Jenny, I am not sure if you need to be a leaseholder to buy de. But they are great to work with. And if you haven't looked into raw milk you really should. It not only tastes good, but is so good for you.

Today has been a BUSY day! I am so glad to sit down!

Church this morning 8:30 service, 9:45 Sunday School.

Got home and DH got the apple press out and helped the kids get going while I started on the tomatoes.

Ended up with 5 gallons of cider canned. 1 gallon of fresh cider for Opa for letting us have the apples:ya

10 quarts of spaghetti sauce, the last 5 are in the canner now.

I will try to get some pictures of the chicks and on here tomorrow.

Prayers for Mommi and your step-dad.

Have a great evening!
Sarah
