My sister made fun of me because I said I was going to get some preparation H and put it on my chicken. She[the chicken] laid her first egg today and there was some blood on it. Later I noticed that she was walking kind of funny so I guess it hurts back there. My sister said "For chicken!?!? That's just to far! I wouldn't go there!" Well I siad I won't let her hurt if there is something I can do for her! I am responsible for her and she did give me such a pretty little egg!

By the way MJ, nice pearly whites!

I also hate to floss....until my dentist gave me one of those handled things with the one inch floss contraption on the head of it. Kinda looks like a toothbrush. LOVE IT!!! When I was still working I would keep one their in my desk and one at home. You just pop the little floss thing off and replace it with a new one. It does not floss as well as regular floss as it does not bend around the teeth....but my dentist no longer gives me a hard time about my gums.

Go try it!

That is very exciting CM--congrats!!!! I am tickled with myself because I put up 12 bags of sweet corn in the freezer today. (the neighbor blessed us with his excess, after he got tired of shucking. He gave us 3 1/2 brown paper grocery bags of it.) I am in the process of saving the few raspberried my plants I put in this spring are producing. I am hoping to save up and freeze enough to make jam. It's my families fav and we ran out months ago.

Wyliefarms -- thanks for the offer to meet in Traverse City, but that's still over 5 hours away!! Google Menominee Mi 49858. I think there is only one other person that's in the UP that posts on here. Makes it difficult to go to ChickenStock and other get togethers.

I wish I had a newer computer so that I could download pictures. Today I got an egg that was brown on one end and pink on the other. What was neat was where they overlapped; it was almost purple!! I'm not sure who laid it, but I think it was one of the BOs that I got this spring. I may have to keep one of them after all; they were bought as meat birds!

Dont mean to hijack the thread here, but was wondering what everyone uses for worming their chickens? I have pyran 50 that I use every month on my grandkids and every 3 months on my dogs. (human grade LOL) Seem odd my grandparents wormed us monthly on the farm and we never caught pin worms from school come fall.....anywho, thanks in advance for your knowledge.

BTW what a beautiful day it turned out to be. I moved all my meaties down below my hay barn in 4' x 4' playpens 25 to each pen and PVC huge tractors Im building now outside for next week when completely feathered. You should have seen them all (cockerals) flying across the pens , feet up, challenging each other. Was a sight to behold. They are a riot to watch.

Life is good.

Okay----I am tired and getting ready for bed, but your description above of the cockerals flying across the pen, feet up to fight gave me a visual of the chickens in slow motion, doing those karate type moves like Keanu Reeves in the Matrix. I gave me a good pre-sleep laugh
