Welcome all the new Michigan folks!(I spelled flocks first of all:))
We are pretty new to the forum too and have learned quite a bit.

I am wondering if anyone is interested in an Ameraucana rooster. My 12 yr old daughter has 2 for sale. they are 6 months old. One is blue color and the other is either a wheaten or blue wheaten. She is selling them for $10 each.

If you are interested let me know ASAP. I am going to Frankenmuth next month (entry form deadline is Monday) and will sell them there if need be.

Thanks and I hope everyone is enjoying the "summer" weather we are having this fall season.

Does anyone have any Old English Game hens for sale? My 10 yr old wants one to do showmanship with instead of her bantam cochin. I am thinking about going to the Shiawasse Fair swap in October. That is where we got the OEG hen for my oldest a couple years ago.

I'm finally back checking the forum. It takes so long to see stuff. I finally found that if I do search, and my name then I can find the ones I have posted on. A great time saver!

The swap/sale at the shiawassee fair grounds is on the first saturday in October starting at 6am. Poultry and small animals are there. You can sell for a small fee and buyers get in free. This is the first fall sale. Usually just in the spring. We went up a couple years ago to buy a showmanship bird and ended up with a OEG hen. There was a large selection and a lot of people. The earlier the better on purchasing. "the early bird gets the worm."

There is a post on it under the swap and sales section of this forum.

Hope this helps!
Sarah

Thanks for the information. I accidently found that at the bottom of the page it has recent posts, unanswered posts, subscribed posts, your posts. I click on your posts and everything I have posted pops up. This is lots faster.

Hi Sarah,

I was trying to find more info on this swap because the spring one started at 8. I talked to someone directly that time, but this time, I can't find the flyer or info anywhere. We had exchanged ideas since it was put on by the 4-H kids and I was helping the 4-H kids here host one also.

Hello fellow Michiganders!!!
I have been reasearching on the forum for a few days and stumbled across the Michigan page. You can see where I am located and though we are not allowed to have chickens, I plan on getting six BOs. Haven't made up my mind if I want to buy chicks or hatch. I started on my coop a few days ago.
I started an urban community garden here in the city (six vacant city lots spread out over two blocks). Three of them are the main garden. Across the street are two lots that will have the fruit orchard and one up the street has the fall garden. Then decided I wanted fresh eggs and will use the poop in the compost bins.

[/img] I'm glad you found this site. It is a great source of information and great people. Chicks obviously are a much quicker method, but something about the anticipation of eggs hatching seems to make the experience of owning chicken much more fullfilling. From an old rooster, Welcome.

I haven't seen a flyer or anything, just 1/2 dozen or so different folks have told me about it. The last swap I went to was 2 years ago and it started at 6am then. I will call the fairgrounds and see what I can come up with.

I know Mr. Jeff lives a short distance from there. He may know the exact time.

Of course now that I found a Ameraucan I keep seeing people practically handing them out! hahaha

Hope you find them a home! (You might want to post on CL or in the Chicken sale thread.

I believe it was still held by MBGBA then and theirs are always 6-12, but the 4-H held it this spring because MBGBA moved theirs to a different location. I believe the 4-H held it at 8. Please let us know if you find out.

I would love to go, but don't want to show up 2 hours late or 2 hours early!

I sure like this site. Yestersday LauraSbeale came to pick up some birds from me. It sure is nice to be able to put faces with names. And it's doubly nice being able to meet people with like interests. We going to "Webster Days" at the Webster Township Historical Site on Webster Church Rd this afternoon. Don't know what it is, just saw lots of signs advertising it. Decided that since it isn't to far we might as well check it out. Best wishes to all for another good weekend.
