good morning everybody who isn't frozen solid somewhere!


our family had a great visit yesterday with Derek and his way cool kids! and no, Derek didn't get fat. but we did have some lovely corn bread and coffee. and the kids chowed some Ida Red apples too!

he also built the coolest travel cage for chickens that could serve as a temp house for a sick chicken etc.

i snapped some photos and i will have Derek post them with pointers.

I save quarters!! Last year I cashed in my jugs and had 900 bucks!!!
Help pay for running water line and juice to barn. Have to get my plumber out there when it warms up to connect the water line. Just got my last bill from the juice guy. He redid the panel in my house and then used the old panel in the barn. It was so nice and organized it was a work of art

. Really like the job Jeremy did. He is Chickflick's SIL and has a business in Lansing.

Good Morning Everyone!

Yikes is it cold. Hopefully the old saying is true "In like a lion out like a lamb", because I for one am sure ready for some nice weather. I've been out all morning getting a horse ready to ship to New Mexico. I'm currently a large icecube, and thinking about stowing away with the horse! Hopefully I'll have time to thaw out before the shipper gets here!

Looks like this week is going to be fairly nuts too! I wasn't expecting to be shipping this horse today, and we are still trying to complete the jump order. I'm hoping to be able to come out next week. So far I have nothing planned!

Yep, it is cold out. Went to water the chickens this morning and forgot my gloves. My hands were pretty frozen by the time I came in the house.

MJ - where are those pictures? We lost the little speckled sussex overnight. They were fine when they got home, put them in the brooder, and checked them before bed. She was stiff with her legs stretched back and couldn't hold her head up right. She couldn't stand on her own either. Only thing I can think of is that she got trampled by the little mutt chick who was jumping all around.

Oh yeah. That's right, it was a buttercup. Almost forgot - thanks for the hospitality yesterday. The kids were excited to show mom their ballons this morning. Raigan talked about it on the ride home.

Didn't even notice this morning that one of my girls was not with the others, but just found her under the small pan we use for the duck to plash around in. The sun is out good now, so I went to give waddles her pan of water and found one of my hens dead under it. Poor gal, it was too cold for her all by herself like that. one of my better layersout of the EE's.

I see someone else lost one last night too, and tonight is supposed to be colder here. Can't hardly wait for those 40* temps predicted. Come on Sun!
