Jelly beans for breakfast here, no boy so too lazy to cook.

State Fair, well folks it looks like it is going to go to be ran and funded by the county, my brother in law is a county commissioner and they are working on that right now. Wonder what the Gov is going to think when she can't miss manage those funds anymore.

It will be good to see the money stay local. And I am glad they are going to try to make it work.

The UP has some great places it is one of the few real wildernesses left in the USA that isn't a state ran park with bears and cats that eat ya and we have no poisonous snakes, well that we know of.

Steve I am on 35 about 2 miles from the Rapid cut across let me know when ya all come up maybe we can get together with Christy she is less then an hour from me.

That would be really cool Jean. I never thought of that, meeting up with Steve. Maybe have an UP version of Chickenstock:). I'm glad about the Fair too. My kids and I would be disappointed if it was canceled. We make a day out of it and have a great time.

Oh someday to travel. Did see on the news where rates for crossing bridge are going up.

Does anyone else ever notice-( at the farm and home in coldwater yesterday )-Is it a issue when the chicks get picked up and when put back you hear " I can't remember which bin I got this from". The parent says "Just put it in there".

Dang flurrires. Could be worse

I find the fairs very disappointing. Livingston County's fair I thought was very poor. How can you have exhibits to "celebrate" the harvest when it's a month and more away. I never could understand why the State Fair was taken from the Department of Agriculture and forced upon the DNR. I think our elected officials saw the monies collected from sportsmen and women as money "they" needed to spend. Immediately upon the transfer taking place, most of the building at the State Fair grounds where condemned and MILLIONS of wildlife dollars were mandated by the legislature and the courts to make the fair safe. I'm am no fan of our current governor, but I see no reason to operate the State Fair with million dollars losses. I would hate to see the fair fall by the wayside, but something needs to be done about its mangement so that it at least breaks even.

Morning all-

I think I could talk my husband into a trip- as long as there were tractor-talking, fishing buddies for him to shoot the crap with. And as long as I could pull off a fishing trip for him, we may be able to hotel-motel it for a night. He would have more fun talking farm talk than he does when I drag him to veterinary functions- heh heh heh,, he is an old farm boy who grew up pitching hay on his Granny's farm. I put him in the vet world, and he doesnt talk much.

Im glad that my hubby understands that my internet friends are my real friends. I took a trip to New York to meet up with a bunch 0f friends who I have talked to online for ten years. My friends came from Canada, Puerto Rico, California and everywhere in between. We sure did have fun.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Visiting bunch of fowl folk here:)

The sun surely looks great but boy is it cold out there!

Hubby decided to take his dirt bike for a spin on the frozen "pond" that formed from all the melting snow and rain. Oh his dirt bike has screws in the tires for traction.
Anyways the ice wasn't strong enough in the middle and through the ice he went. It was calf deep of water. I missed the accident, saw him dragging the bike out of the water on our way home from church.
Jon is busing up already and has a nasty gash on his head. No helmet he was just testing the ice out he said. So now he is hobbling around and really sore. His head and shoulder went through 2 inches of ice.
I just got the bike in the shop to start thawing out, with the neighbors help.

Off to get dinner going. Rachel and I have one last Honduras meeting this afternoon.

My garage really smells like chickens from just 2 1/2 days of the baby chicks in here. When do you guys switch from paper towels to saw dust for the bedding?

Sarah

PS- welcome new folks...jump on in the conversations. WE don't bite, though MJ does carry a shovel....

Glad he is ok but the ice wouldn't of been nothing compared to what I would of done to him for not wearing a helmet.

He must be related to one of my 7 brothers, they take risks just for the fun of it as well.

Opa our fair has been making money for years and she keeps taking it for other things. Sore spot for us up here, if she would leave a % for repairs the fair more than pays for itself. Our fair grounds and building are in great shape.

The U.P. State fair is THE best fair in the state Period! Good exhibits, entertainment, old steam engine/tractor demonstrations.....it has it all.

I used to show beef cattle there (had Grand Champion steer and heifer in 1976) every year I go there I still run into friends I made back years ago, It is like a homecoming. That is why we keep coming back....good people, big fair with a downhome flair!

I know what you mean about sore spots.....
