Good Morning!

We moved the 2 week old chicks to the feed trailer last night. I couldn't stand the smelll any longer! The did well and kept warm. My 2 year old was quite upset when we moved them...he kept saying where are my baby chickens?!!?

I needed a thermometer for our incubator so i bought a oral one at walmart. Well it doesn't work...says it is 105* and won't budge. So what kind of thermaoter do I need for the incubator? Where would I get one locally ....today?!?

I tried doing bold above... computer skills aren't that great!

Off to get everyone around to head to Brighton today.

Another question...we have a little giant syrophome bator. there is no humitity thing...so how do I know what the humity is? There are water wells to keep full....so I guess that is all I have to do:)

Welcome newbie! We have Ameraucana eggs and a rooster available:) We are a 1/2 hr east of Lansing.
Talk to you all soon.

Sarah

I think you'll be fine then... doesn't sound like anything is exposed to where a short drop would really do much. Hopefully someone else here has Serama experience

Try looking in the garden or hardware area of Walmart for the thermometer/hydrometer combos. I originally got mine at Home Depot..... but Walmart sells them for a few bucks cheaper.

That will solve both problems

They make little small ones that stick to the glass and will show you both readings... very handy! I also had a second hydrometer from the pet store (for lizards) and a secondary thermometer just to make sure that everything was working properly... but now I just rely on the combo one and the therm (it's one of the old style ones and doesn't change as fast... so I think it gives me a more accurate reading for what the eggs might be experiencing as to where the digital one reacts quickly and tells me air temp.

forgot to add... even though it sticks to the glass.... if you get this kind, be sure to put it on the same level as the eggs

If you put it elsewhere it could be off by a degree or two due to the different temps at different levels in the bator

I got mine off of Walmart.com for less than 10.00. Took about 3 days so it won't help today. TSC has non digital combo thermometer / hygrometer for 3.99.

They were blinded by the flash by all the pictures I took, so now they're scared of the camera. I actually tend to leave the little ones alone and let them get use to things. I just sit and talk softly to them. Yes, I can talk softly. Thought I'd throw that in before Kristen gets to this post!!
