I agree doc/insurance com are on the edge of useless. but an improper healing of the bone could cause alot more pain, suffering and expense later on( yes-experience). if possible get it loked at. Hope it feels better either way.

Hey about the toe... When I was a teen I worked at a vets office. On a few occansions a tech or vet would "accidentally" put a finger in the slide too. It really helped not going to the real doc if it wasn't broken.

We found a thermoter at TSC, it is a replacement for the incubator we have. She didn't think they had any others. So we are climbing temp and hoping to put the eggs in tonight!

I also got Ivermectin for the cows and chickens. I bought the generic brand. It cost a dollar less and I got 30 more doses. go figure!

Homeschool classes are over for the week, ballet is done in my garage, and the dog is free to run around. Life is good.
One kid is under the weather though.

Got to figure out what to have for dinner..... one of my least favorite things to do. I should go boil the chicken carcass...soup would be good!

I haven't had a chance to read all of today's posts yet....

OMG! They had baby La Manchas at the feed store! They were SOOOOO cute! Good thing I don't have a pen yet or one would have probably ended up in my cart! LOL

But I DID find 2 crested Runners!

They were so cute! Anyhow... I now have at least 2 Runners that I will be looking to sell $5 each... they are 3 or 4 weeks old now.

Here's the ducks! The two biggest ones are the ones I am not keeping... and eventually I'll be selling 1-2 more.

Hi All!!!
yippiechickie.gif

Steve, the question I had is, HOW LONG AFTER THE ORIGINAL HATCH DATE DO YOU WAIT BEFORE YOU JUST THROW THE EGGS OUT THAT DIDN'T HATCH?
Growing up we had hens that hatched out all of our eggs. Right now we have a little bantum that is setting on 8 eggs. They will be little guys.

Those baby squirrels are so cute! And the brooder made out of doors is pretty cool too. Cute duckies!

Tomorrow I hope to clean out the coop again. It is always nice to have more fertilizer. Makes the plants grow good.
bye for now. Myrna

Those ducks are cute! I have to say, if Big Russ saw ducks in the sink, he would freak!

Myrna-my broody hatched out 100% they really know what they are doing, good luck you might end up with all 8!

On the toe, I can move it more and it isn't as swollen so hopefully not broken, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers! You guys rock!

i know you are asking Steve, but in case he doesn't jump on...i don't leave anything longer than 24 hours from the time the last chick hatches. some people will give it 48 hrs.

hope all works out well for you!

Hi Again,
When I used my coop cleaning as fertilizer, in the winter when the snow was out, I put it right one top of everything. They say that you should basically let it set for 6 months before you use it. So through the spring and summer, I make a compost pile and add all my eggs shells, coffee grounds and stuff to it.
Last year I put it on my irises, which were just ones someone gave to me, and they got about 3 to 4 feet tall and all blossomed. So now I am trying to get it on all of my plants.

They say if you put it on too fresh, it can burn your plants.
I think my little hen will do well. She is very gentle and I can pet her and talk to her. Of course, I talk and fuss with almost all of our chickens.

Are you bottle feeding the baby squirrels?
We finally saw a robin out in the yard yesterday. My fella and I have a contest every year to see who sees the first one. I lost this year.

Have a great day!! Myrna
