janansmom If you are just looking for a few chickens I have mutt chicks in the incubator right now. They are astrolorp buff orpington, EE mixes. I would be willing to give you a few. I incubated 24 to get ONE for a friend that I encouraged to get chickens. She is getting Brahmas and decided since I motivated her to get chickens she just had to have one of mine. They are set to hatch on the 8th. I am really not trying to be an enabler.

I really need to sell some BLRW too, I hatched like crazy this winter and have way too many, is that possible? Anyway, I will be selling them in pairs and trios. I have a couple girls that just started laying, I was going to keep, but being picky, don't like their lacing pattern, and some that will start laying soon, and a few more that should lay in the next month or two.

I have to keep a pullet or two back for Sam, I promised him a dark pullet that looked like Victor!! I didn't forget Sam!!

I was hoping things would dry up soon, hahahaha!

My place looks like a mud pit, it is disgusting, but these guys are outgrowing their growout pen, so I guess I had better just get on the stick! First dibs to my MI pals!

c2much----my friend just gave me some starter and the recipe for Traditional Amish Potato Sourdough Bread. Oh lordy---it tastes heavenly!!
It makes a very flavorful, moist bread. My kids said it was so good it didn't even need butter. The starter had yeast, sugar, water, salt and mashed potato flakes-----when you take out some to bake with and then feed it, it's just water, sugar and the potato flakes. Let me know if you are interested in the recipe.

i have also been wanting to set up worm composting...let me know if you find anything good!!!

http://www.wormwoman.com/acatalog/vermicomposting.html

This is a good site for people who want to get into worms (I can't say "people who have worms" - that's just wrong) Any way, you won't believe how much garbage worms will eat - mine usually die. I end up with one or two really BIG worms who have eaten the other worms when I don't give them enough food to eat. It's a vicious cycle.

too funny lmao! I have seen this site before...and thanks to all who have added info. I have problems telling one kind of worm from another....where do you find the right worms or know they are the right kind?

I think the rubbermaid container looks the easiest and most effective....and i can keep it right outside my kitchen door in the carport!!
