Opa - that is one nice nest box. I see very good craftmanship there. I bet there would be a market for those too.

The weather sure was great today, and it is supposed to get better. My yard is still a bit soggy, but the girls didn't seem to mind. I gave my son a piece of bread to give to the chickens that were on the deck, and as soon as he opened the sliding door we had a barred rock in the kitchen! I guess she couldn't wait.

citalk2much - That is terrible about the duck. Potato chips? Good thing you came to the rescue on that one.

This morning I went and did some minor repairs on a customer's house and now it's time to do somethings around my place. I do need to take some pictures of the new 3 compartment rollout nest I just built. I'm pretty happy how it turned out. Then I have to try and finish the garden fencing today.

Wow that is beautiful OPA!!! Are you marketing those nestboxes? if so...How much to build one? lol what are the dimensions etc?

Many thanks
Shar

I guess I will be adding another worker and truck to my fleet.....seems my son is in need of a job with his very recent layoff as an electrician,.... and he is a good roofer ( guess I taught him well)...so my workforce has just increased.

I have built several and the one I am currently using in my coop is 3 nests wide & 2 high. The floor area of each nest is 12"x14" and the eggs rollout into the storage area. In my coop the box is mounted in an interior wall so I don't have to go in with the chickens to collect eggs. I will be making more for sale in the near future. There is a substantial amount of material in each nest box but they will be much cheaper than anything you can get commercially and can be customized to fit your situation.

Couldn't sleep, been up for an hour. Thought I'd stop by and say hi. Its the final days - due Sunday - for the eggs in the bator. I don't know if any made it. When I last candled them, they were all dark with no movement, even the ducks stopped moving. Maybe they just filled the egg, I don't know. If none make it, I guess we just try again.

Opa are you willing to sell nesting boxes like that? How much would you charge for a roll out nest box ?

I have a friend who needs roll out nesting box (her girls are eating the eggs!) I'll have to ask her if she bought one yet.

TODAY IS THE DAY

Today, I become an official member of the BYC chicken owners club. I am picking up chicks from shelleyb and MJ. I am so excited, but I feel bad for my dd. They are her 4-H birds, but she will not get a chance to see them until tomorrow (they are going into a brooder at my friends house). She has soccer and dog 4-H tonight, so no extra time to run see them. I know for sure where we are going tomorrow after school.

Good morning everyone. Well my mailbox is filling up with BYC email again. I had to have a puter guy come out and fix it but it is worth it to start getting my important mail again.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
