Just got home from the swap meet. We picked up 5 ameraucana babies from John Blehm to keep our lonely two hatchlings company. Chickendad couldn't resist a few more BOs and Barred Rocks, so the brooder is no longer empty. All chickies enjoyed a good drink and lots of starter food and have settled in for a nap. Think I will do the same. Why do swap meets start so early??? Had a good time in spite of getting up WAY too early.

Raining on and off here in the northeast but it's still 67 degrees. Birds don't seem to mind, as long as they're free ranging. Hope it doesn't hail though, my daffodils just started blooming yesterday. And my wasn't it GORGEOUS yesterday? It nearly hit 79 up here! Gosh the 50s next week are gonna be a bummer!

We love to just sit on the deck and watch their funny antics. They are sure enjoying this weather.

Cathy - That Delaware chases away the robins and any other bird that lands in the yard. It is hilarious.

Yup, they love to roam, though it's pouring now and everyone except the big roo is in the coop. At least that's where the guinea noise is coming from. But Mr Chicken is outside, standing under a leafless tree, standing very tall and getting totally drenched. Sometimes I just don't get chickens!

There are thunderstorm watches in effect --------------WHY OH WHY!!!!!!!!!
I had thought it was supposed to be nice and sunny today. On my way to a outdoor b-day party---yikes!!!! Didn't make it to the horse show this morning----with the wind I am sure the ponies were a little freaky.

The storm came through here about an hour or so ago. I was outside with them, staining the coop. The chickens were calmly wandering around when all the sudden they came toward me at a dead run! They hit the coops just as the downpour started. I can't believe how hard the wind blew!

I know what you guys mean,

I went down in the basement to do some laundry and came back up and the sky was almost purple! and heavy rain filed through 5 minutes after, its totaly came out of no where. We were suppose to go to our cottage today...so much for that, and I sat there and watched the rain and then its started hailing lol! its funny how there shaped like diamonds almost and a little warm too. And our power flickered twice for about half a second. Arent we suppose to be getting storms like this in, what...June? not April! LOL its supposed to be nice drizzles just enough rain to make the ground wet, not T-storms.

It looks like we have another one rolling in right now. We had a quick little rain run through about noon. And it looks like another one is coming in from the Lake now. I live about 20 minutes west of South Haven, which is right on Lake Michigan. It seems all of our storms come from the Lake.

I was out planting peas and got totally drenched by the rain. I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to gather everything up and make a run for the house. I did'nt rain long enough to make it worth my effort except scooping up chick babies that were out enjoying the beautiful day.

I was very, very good!! I bought some leg bands for my geese and a breed poster from Cutlers to use for my 4-H kids. I also purchased a rabbit for one of my 4-H kids that couldn't attend.

Wow, it was not fun driving home through those storms!!
