Just got back from buying all my garden plants -- tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins, squash, broccoli, cauliflower, and a few flowers just cuz I couldn't resist. Hopefully once the rain stops, I can plant all of them this weekend:) I can't wait for fresh veggies!!

MJ - You must stop with the pictures! No really, I enjoy them, but the temptation kills me.

Steve, glad to see that you are busy. At least that is a good excuse why you don't spend as much time here.

Opa - I think I've said it before, you are a smart man. That is great to hear that you have such a good relationship with your son. I am looking forward to all the years to come and hope to experience that too. And I know what you mean about the lumber yards. We used to have a bunch in the area, and they all seemed to close because of all the Home Depots and Lowe's going up everywhere. We still have a Carter lumber, and I choose them because the quality of wood is much better.

Oh my gosh if she isn't the cutest little dog in the world! We lost our Boston Terrier to cancer a few months ago and both my kids really want another small dog. We all love the long haired chihuahua. Seeing Raigan and Clarabelle just makes it that much harder to resist!

Thanks! Sorry to hear about the loss of the Boston.

Derek, keep Clarabelle away from your other two dogs... she'll be a snack for them! Your two kids are just adorable.
I just got a Papillion. He's just 7 lbs. Our first small dog too. We sure are enjoying the new experience of having a lap dog!

I was actually worried about that. Our husky kills anything that moves. She might think the Chi was a small rabbit or something. We had all three dogs out together yesterday and they actually did fine. They were supervised though

It's still way to wet in our area to try to till anything. I looked at our garden spot last night and there is still standing water on it. My dad, who grew up farming, used to tell me not to be in a rush to get the garden in. He said that the ground temperature would dictate when the plants start to grow and anytime before Memorial Day would be fine.

btw The wellie chics are doing just fine. I am trying to fight the urge to get another batch of eggs in the bator!

I went to Millers Greenhouse in Grand Blanc Friday and WAAAY overspent on flowers. Almost as addictive as chicks. I am only doing pots this year, no annuals in the ground as the chickie girls are into gardening in a big way. They are especially good at mulching the sidewalk. I have swept up yards and yards of mulch. They have such a good time I hate to fence them out.

I haven't even been to Wojo's in Davison yet, I usually don't get out of there without a carload either.

Anyone else have favorite garden places?

Hello everyone,

Newbie in Ludington (halfway between Traverse City and Grand Rapids).

Just got started with 12 chicks from TSC, 2 Bantams (Edgar and Annebelle) and 10 somethings (Orps?). Then rescued 2 baby ducks that were in need of a home.

Still working on naming them all and hoping to have a roo or two also! Just started taking them outside for play time and seeing their personalities.

From the looks of everyone from Michigan we could have our own section, lol.
