well you guys have been busy today... must be all the rain keeping everyone inside... .well I know I was but most of the day we were in the basement cleaning up our flooded basement, aparently the sump stopped working and hubby went down to get something and stepped into about 2 inches of water all thru the basement....

we borrowed the bilge pump out of father-in-laws boat to start to get the water out, then hubby went to friends work and borrowed a industrial size pump, the water is mostly off the floor, he is now moving everything to get the standing water behind that stuff up, we have 4 fans and 2 heaters down there drying things up.... he said he will probably have to go down there ever 30 minutes to plug in the pump and drain the hole out

boy oh boy has it been a long day

Well my guys are safe and sound with a temp roof of cattle panels and tarps. Guess what I'll be building tomorrow

. After seing MJ's hoop house I am going to give it a try. The only difference is that mine will have more sq footage and will not be as tall. We have too much wind around here and the taller ones would blow away. I'm hoping for 4 feet in the center. I don't mind ducking to go in as long as it means everyone is safe and sound.

yes it does... it was a long and wet day... I think it will take my feet just as long to dry out as my basement has...lol

those babies are so cute

crossing fingers that babies that vicki is hatching out for me to replace my daughters araucana that was lost to a cat over memorial day will hatch (they were her last 6 eggs I had ***CROSSING FINGERS***)

Hi everyone. I'm down in Pontiac working and it's just dreary and humid and yucky. BUT, it's not snowing so that's good!

Thought I would take off work early tomorrow and go home and clean out the hen house, again.

Gotta love those messy, poopy birds.

Does anyone out there use pine shavings? I did during the winter months but have straw in there now. Found out I'm allergic to the straw so I need to get that out. I seem to recall that cedar shavings were bad to use, is that correct? They smell so much better though.

Well my 2 broody BA hatched out what i think is a GLW, it was hatched on Tuesday, and yesterday the 1 BA went down on the floor with the baby and made a nest, so sweet.
the other BA hatched out 2 yesterday evening, didn't really check so there either BA or BR,
and then my SLW the ones she sat on, hatched out a Bantam, it black w/ a little burnt brown, so tiny,
thats it so far, they have about 7 more eggs to go. so in the next couple days well see what happens.

Oh it rain all yesterday had a bowl on the back step enough to hold about 8 cups of water, by the afternoon it was full,.
the meat bird coop looks like a swap.

, need to get lots of sand

Jean Glad to hear your water is back on, there is nothing worse than no water.



Just a warning to all you duck People, dont put Hosta around them,, i put some a round there yard on the out side of the fence to make it look nice, well when they come out to roam, they found them and eat them up..

still love them, maybe if i plant so mint or another herb it will be strong tasting and they will leave it along

I use the the same thing, PS and SD, the SD works great on the smell. i mix them together, i found that if i put SD down first in sticks all togeter when it gets wet from poop.

there is also Sweet PDZ its like stall dry
