Saturday I went to Hillbilly Rooster's and he sure has some nice birds. I got a buff orpington from him to add to my "rainbow" flock. I really enjoyed the opportunity to spend a little time with them and hopefully I will be able to meet more BYCers.

Briana, starting the day with a smile is always a good idea. I love reading everyone posts because that always brings a smile. Often what someone has posted will remind me of things that I have done and I wind up laughing. But then I'm easily amused.

He offered more but I fought the urge. I already have one and the plan for my rainbow flock is two of each breed or color that I like. I am getting very close to the maximum carrying capacity of my coops and runs.

Good morning! Beautiful day. DH and I just sat outside after he got home - works 3rd - and enjoyed a cup of coffee while watching the flock as they slowly filed out of the coop to range. We were deciding who would be Sunday's supper!

It does work. Each of my bad allergies cats and feathers. After the first few months of cat my allergies subsided and after 2 years of having a canary in the house the chickens don't even bother me. If you leave the honey out in the house it helps too.

Citalk2much is right. About 7 yrs ago I ended up allergic to all types of foods. Doc said out bodies change about every 7-10 yrs. Eggs were the worse. So he had me scramble an egg once a day and eat tiny bites of it throughout the day and after about 4 months, no more allergies to eggs. I had to do that with flour, wheat ect . Took about 2 yrs before I was just about over it all.

Now Im just allergic to food perservatives.

Food allergies are a pain!!! I had a time period where I was sensitive to wheat, dairy and corn. Do you know how many food contain one or more of those?!?! I pretty much ate meat, veggies and fruit. I lost some extra weight too, which was at least a side bonus. I can now eat those items and be fine, unless I totally over do it.

Citalk2much:

I dont can so I dont know about those..but yes, any boxed foods my lips get hard knots on them and then they fester. And my bottom eye lids get very red and crack like chapped hands. Its horrible.

Worse food for me are cheese-its and ritz crackers. Go figure! And how many parents give those 2 snacks to their kids? Oh Kraft singles cheese is bad for me too. Even my dogs throw up from it where other cheeses dont. Kind of scary to think that the perservatives are that bad for our bodies but they are in all foods we buy at the grocery store.

Something to really think about. And the reason I try to buy everything here from our local farmers and I dont have flower gardens in front of my house, its all veggies LOL looks pretty cool too.

Blueberrylu:

Yes they are a pain, big time! I ate boiled skinless chicken and white rice for almost 2 yrs. I said after about 3 months, if I have to see one more piece of chicken I will poke my eyes out with a fork. LOL I went down to 116 pounds and got very ill being 5' 8" I looked like I belonged in a 3rd world country.

So now I try to educate others on the dangers of perservatives in store boxed foods and dairy.

Glad you rid yourself of the allergies. It makes for a much happier life.

Ok people
What is the difference between a Barred Plymoth Rock, a Barred Rock and a Dominique (sp?). I've come across all these terms but don't know how to tell the difference. I'd like to have a flock of Barred Rocks but I can't fgure out how to tell the difference between these birds to make sure I'm getting what I want.
