i have blue and black. they aren't just quite ready to mate yet. soon. and very soon. the males are SOOOO close. Mamaw is laying after her molt and as soon as the boys get their poop in a group, there will be babies.

i wont have splashes though. which is fine by me because big splashed birds creep me out a bit....

ChikeeMomma...thank you so much. i am so sad that i missed you. Rick was telling me that your girls were cracking him up. they might be a little warm with this weather. don't be fooled into thinking they HAVE to have a brooder lamp. aren't they pretty for meat birds!

Rick is fervently working on a hoop house in the driveway right now for my older meaties. he is awesome. just think, only four more to build!

i wish you all could see the cute little Bantam Cochin babies here that hatched right before the 'hospital vacation'. they are beautiful. i'll try to get some pics tomorrow. they'll give you sugar shock!!!

YAYEE! I finally am getting eggs from my new BR hens!! The two tom RP's left this morning and everyone is much more laid back now that it's just the chickens in the coop.

RIR...awesome! eggs!

CM...next time we'll just have to have a hang out time, that's all there is to it! i feel a voortman cookie experience coming on. don't you feel that windmill cookies would make a perfect crust for a cheesecake???

MJ- Forgot to tell you -- your feed guy just can't believe you. Sending someone from Midland all the way to him! They were all pretty nice there. We talked for a while. I bought the grower for them, correct? Hope so! And you just finish them off with some corn, too, right? Thanks!

he is hilarious. and he prefers we don't put his name or business name on the net. just FYI. i love him. he's like everyone's grampa.

yep. grower. and you can finish with corn if you want a nice fat pad for stewing or roasting. or harvest that fat pad, render them all for a chicken type lard. it's yummy.

Okay. Gotcha!

He reminded me of my neighbor at my old house. Knows a lot of good stuff!!!

Okay -- hope I don't sound silly, but when finishing with corn, do I feed just corn to them exclusively or do I still feed them their grower feed, too?

you can do either. i have finished with corn the last week on some CX's. it worked nicely. do whatever you feel. you wont hurt them either way. they are foragers. they'll go find what they want. which hopefully doesn't include like the cat or your neighbor.....

I know Lenny Miller's!! Great restuarant in the middle of nowhere, parking lot was always packed. I've been there two or three times, always came away stuffed.
My Grandmother lived 3 or 4 houses south of the town. She passed in 72 so you can see it been awhile. It is a nice little town.
Bummer, my dish of ice cream is empty. Time to get back to work!!!

thank you ladies. it sure is amazing. the events of the last two weeks are really starting to add up. i couldn't walk across the paddock without running out of breath, i was feeling light headed and tired from just doing the smallest of things. sleeping in the middle of the day, couldn't catch my breath while talking etc. now it all makes sense.

i shall now become a banana junkie.

Why you'd want to put them into a soap is beyond me, but whatever floats your boat!

MJ -- sorry to hear about the "vacation" but glad your feeling better.

Been hot here today. Yesterday had my familys' reunion. Nothing like a bunch of cousins to have a great time. We all get along because we only see each other once or twice a year.
