Sarah, I am procrastinating [sp?] today. I have done 75 jars of various pickles and jams in the last week.
I still have more blueberries and peaches waiting for me. I also did a big lasagna dinner and birthday brownies for my son on Saturday. He turned 21 yesterday. We had 11 people over for Saturday.

Yes they are. We also have the hen and hoping she will go broody. She was hiding her eggs and when she got to 9 she sat on them all day but she was not in a safe place so I tried to move her and the eggs. Needless to say she would not sit back on the eggs. She didn't lay for about a week and once she started laying again, this time in the coop, I left her eggs alone. She is up to 7 so far.
Oh my gosh! I truly hope she sits well for you this time around. How exciting! We also had a poor little gold phoenix who didn't make it. Boy was I upset, needless to say the little silver phoenix was upset also. That was his buddy!
We had a hen who had disappeared for the longest time. We couldn't find her anywhere. One weekend day my husband was out behind the pole barn cleaning up the area. We had an old wheel barrow that was turned over that he went to right. Well, lo and behold, when he turned it over we found her! She had laid 7 eggs and was sitting right on those lil' things! We couldn't leave her there because we have big predator problems so I moved all her eggs to a nesting box and then tried to move her. Well, she would have none of that and abandoned her eggs. That was a sad, sad day
Next time I too will leave her be and let nature take it's course. I'll just wait for them to hatch and move the little chicklets then
Ooopsy_daisy...you didn't tell me that was you! sneaky, sneaky! cochins!
they are dreamy, aren't they? especially when they are out of Rex Nelson lines! makes ya drooly! i cannot wait to see my first chicks. they should be amazing! yippy!
twinwillows...thanks hon! keep praying. i sure appreciate it, and i am glad you're home safe! and that you got to eat sushi! did you bring me back some squid????
OF COURSE WE'RE GOING TO FOWLFEST! PICKLES!
yum!
have a great day all, i am whipped just from doing a few little things, but at least i did a few little things today! that is better than nothing, right? improving!
If you look back on 6/16/09 at aprox 2:30pm I *waved to you that I was here and said who I was. You had just come home from the hospital. So I just figured you probably were not ready posts here much.
And yes, its all your fault that I have Cochin fever! LOL And here I thought my daughter was crazy with all the chickens she has for pets. I'm hooked now.
The Std Cochins and Black Copper Marans will be my hobby birds. And I have been doing some research on Andalusians too. They are also beautiful birds.
I have 3 huge barns here and Im retired now...so at least I can provide happy homes for the birds I get.
My favorite thing is to sit out in the side yard in the early evenings and watch my birds scurry for the treats I have toss out for them all day. Its so relaxing to me.
Only thing is, my horses havent figured out what those "cross walkers" are in their pastures. LOL
