Hi Friends
How is everybody this morning?
I am little upset as I am going through some problems with the city in keeping hens. I will write the details in later part of the day as now I have to write some application to health department and want to drop it today instead of mailing it.
The animal control oficer says my hens have to go.I have little hope of getting permit from health department, but they didnt even know that they are the ones who are supposed to give permit and misguided me earlier to other departments.
Please pray my problems is resolved.
I am soo upset.

if anyone has any useful advice.Email me or pm me too along with posting here. I live in Dearborn ,MI.Several cities in neighbourhood allows chickens like melvindale, canton, livonia and westland with certain conditons but this Dearorn.....

Although the ordinance says "permit required by health officer" and i have applied for it and is waiting for result. But the animal control officer says they need to go now .you should have got them after you received permit.
Dont know what to do.

The peace and quiet you have now when the kids are in school... I have it almost all the time now. Youngest son asked me a few months ago after he moved out "don't you get lonely since we are gone". I said nope, It's nice and quiet here and I have plenty to keep me busy. Although I do like when we have get togethers.

They are aways fishing for something the truth of the matter is that my son was ready this yr to go back. Not sure of the daughter she has been the problem child.

Well will talk later gotta go cut wood, clean garage, and well just tinker around with the electrical for the lights. Maybe I will get a bright Idea...

I m thinking in this direction. But I havent found anyone yet who can take 10 hens for sometime. I have two bantam hens.Three are 16 week old hens and 5 of them are only 12 weeks. All of them are very gentle.
My friends in Dearborn are scared of the animal control department:(

.
Their waterer, feed everything can go with them for sometime,if only I can find a place for them for short time.

Thanks for this link.I am going through it now in detail.I was told that this act is effective for farms not residential city area.

I have submitted the written application to health officer as she asked for it.Her assisstant told me that officer will get back with me by early next week.I have to ask the an. control officer to extend the time of notice of removal from this wekend to next weekend b/c I am expecting respone of healthofficer early next week.

I am hoping she respond positvely. If not than I will keep a letter ready for the city mayor with the excerpts from the right to farm act.

So atleast I have a plan of action.

I am not scared of animal control officer but just concerned that if he will take my chickens away when I am out and not at home.

Hope for best.
Once again thanks for the link.

Right now I am fighting with different offices but not about my animals just the fact that my neighbor thinks he can use my property as a landing strip for his plane and loves to drop down out of the sky right above me and my animals!!
