Laura - Your ducklings are sooo cute. I did not know you should provide them with water to swim that young. We raised 3 ducks this spring and I did not put them on water until they were about 3 months old. I learn something everyday on BYC.

Does anyone have any fertile BLUE eggs they would like to sell? I fired up the bator to hatch 5 showgirl eggs, may as well filler-up!

I would like to pick up if you live close. I will be going to Ohio nationals Sat as well if you are attending. Shipped eggs never work out well for me

Crazy Chicken Fever, I hope your roo will be ok.
Hillbilly Rooster, my DH is doing the same thing here since it's too warm to hunt.
YakLady, my DH likes to pretend that he does not care about the chickens too, but I know better.

Laura your ducks are cute!

Take a look at what I got from Vicki today, three more welsummers!

Okay you guys need to stop posting pics of babies LOL My bator is clean and put away. And after the $229 elec bill, I said no more brooders on until summer.

The welsummers and ducklings are just too cute. Thank you both for sharing.

Crazy Chick Fever, did you put Alex's pullet egg in bator the last night that I brought over for him? Sure hope so, he was so excited to band one of my hens here and she laid her first eggs. Now lets just hope it hatches.

OPA: Where are you today? Kind of miss having coffee with ya in the mornings.

Welcome back Opa!!!

Well its 5pm somewhere and Im going to have me a glass of spirits. Went and got all those kennel fence panels today for the outside chicken runs. 250 foot worth with gates and solid panels. Gonna try to get at east 100 foot up before dark. Then I can finally let me grainery barn chickens out into the yard without worry of them getting into the road. Then that building is done and time to start under my hay barn and make a huge inside coop for the 100 Isa's to grow out. Then Im done with chicken housing.

Getting excited about going to Ohio next weekend. When CCF and I got to Frankenmuth and heard all those Roo's crowing at 7am my gosh was it loud...I can only imangine more than 5800 birds going off first thing in the morning. Do I hear "ear plugs" lol

I cannot wait for Ohio Nationals! I wish I could press a fast forward button to make it come a little faster. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and buying some awesome birds.

Oopsy- Yes Alex put his egg in the bator last night. He was excited that his hen laid him an egg and that he was going to be able to hatch his very own chick! Lets keep our fingets crossed that it hatches.

I would love to go to the Ohio National but coincides with the opening of deer season and I haven't missed an opener in forty + years. Crowing roosters or the deer woods. Tough choice. Yeah, right.
For a man who was only going to get 3 or 4 hens my flock keeps growing. I keep finding birds I want to add to my flock. Lakenfelders and then Light Susses or Columbian Wyandottes are next.

OPA: we must both enjoy the same breeds, as I am picking up from Staples aka Steve on friday a trio of Silver Lakenvelders. Awesome color'd birds , I put the Andalusins cuz of them them being flighty for the lakenvelders. Steve and Ted asure me they come for awesome show stock. Maybe we could trade off come spring???

Next are light sussex then maybe if I have the guts..to get some Coronation Sussex. OH MY they are beatiful birds. Then I am done with my flock(s) Oopsy Daisy...forgot about me being on the waiting list for Blk Copper Marans from Bev Davis...hehehe da flock grows and grows. All is good.

Opa if you change your mind about opening day, Crazy Chicken Fever and I , could pick you up on the way down to Ohio Nationals. Just youd have to deal with a 120# doberman service dog that goes everywhere I do. LOL

Crazy Chicken Fever: that egg must hatch for Alex, if not...I'll buy a imposter to replace the dead egg...as he was so excited for "his" hen to make an egg to hatch.

What a nice streak of weather we are having!!! The kids are loving getting all the time outside and we have been able to let the chickens free range a little more. I sure wish they would cut the corn so I can let them out all the time again.

I found my pedometer and started wearing it again. It is a great motivator to get up and move more. Now I really have motivation because we are taking the family on a vacation this winter, a short cruise to the Bahamas.....if I have to put a swimsuit back on I had better drop a few more lbs!!!

My FIL is going to take care of all the critters for us so at least I won't have to worry about that, he will do an awesome job!!

Opa- I love the Columbian Wyandottes they are on my wish list for spring!
