I heard that buff orps like to go broody. I don't really like brooding chicks so I want a couple of hens that will do that for me.

Hillybilly Rooster could you remind me what you have for sale I have a friend looking for some more chickens to keep up with her egg demand.

Hope your wife get the job.

I waiting on my third interview for a job I'm hoping to get. Feel hopeful since I have been told that it is down to me and 1 other person.

Deer hunting has picked up a little as I know a few who have taken some good size bucks.
My friend in St. Johns had a 8 pt by 7AM opening day and her son had gotten a 9 pt with his bow.
I told her they must all be hinding in her little lagoon behind her house.
Good Luck everyone on getting your deer.

Yesterday morning just at day break, I went to collect eggs and let the girls out and here are 2 bucks pushing each other back and forth with their antlers. I couldnt see how many pts, but they werent small deer. Then this morning I walk up to the house and at the apple tree are 4 young doe's. They just stared at me a min then jumed over the fence and stood there until I went into the house. It was like, OKAY we are cool here, she wont shoot/eat us. LOL They all must know they are safe here this year. As they use my pond for their drinking water morning and evening before dark.

Babszoo: hope you get the job dear. Fingers are crossed for ya!

Opa: Crazy Chicken Fever is wanting some wooden shutters made for her chicken house. With a cut out chicken on them. Someone mentioned to ask you. She so busy I'll bet she forgot???

YakLady: Enjoy the vacation with your hubby. Dont work to hard.

I wish this darn rain would stop. I have kennel panels to get out of the back of my truck so I can go get some hay for the horses.

Question if I may? Can you's tell me what you feed your chickens? As I have been buying from a local farmer here near me and MJ and his feed doesnt seem to put much weight on the birds. Ive wormed them all back in September and it hasnt helped. I bought yesterday from TSC some Dunmore 20% grower/starter and some scratch grain. I put vitamins with electrolites in their water now daily to. Hoping this will help with weight gain? Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the welcomes guys/gals. My whole family will come to chickenstock. Looking forward to it!

On an unrelated note... Does anyone know where I can get a buff brahma bantam rooster (or hatching eggs) in Michigan? My rooster managed to escape the run before I had a roof on it and my lab made quick work of him. I decided to get rid of my lab after that because I knew it would only be a matter of time before another chicken attack happened.

And for the dog lovers out there - no I didn't shoot him or anything. I found a great new owner with a cattle farm for him.

Thermos is filled, checked on the chickens and opened the nest boxes. Dogs let out for their morning constitutionals and I now just waiting for a little time to pass before heading for the woods. This has been a poor hunting season so far but hopefully with the corn coming off the fields it will improve. To bad someone doesn't harvest idiots. There are just too many people hunting in my area this year. I sit in my stand and watch the fools on the adjacent properties constantly moving. All they are doing it keeping the deer spooked and then they wonder why the only deer they see are running.

Good Morning!

My friend and her son are on their way to Flordia for 10 days! I wanted to sneak into their luggage, but they just took carry-ons

Long drive early this morning, but home and ready for the day.

Emily is now sick. She got up in the night. Rearranging our day some. We have ballet performances in Brighton at 2 assisted living places. Emily cannot go and waiting to see if Gretchen is up for it. I hope they are better by tomorrow and no one else gets it. We have 4-H in the morning and our family and friends performance in the afternoon

Have a great day!
