Just think....there are folks here that have moved from other states to be in MI. Not me! I live a 1/2 mile from where I grew up and Jon (Hubby) family property adjoin ours. We are such big movers!

So where is everyone else from?

It's been a busy yet productive day. Our dishwasher quit working last month, and yesterday the oven quit working. So today I decided that I needed to do some repairs. I checked with an appliance repair and it would be $120 just to show up. While I try to use other local businesses as much as possible David and I decided since we didn't have a job to go to we'd fix them ourselves. It took us about 30 minutes to diagnose the oven problem, the oven igniter doesn't work and for $43.00 I was able to order a replacement that will be here in 2 days. The dishwasher was an electrical connection that had vibrated loose causing a short that melted the wire. A short piece of wire. a connector, and less than an hours worth of our time and the dishwasher is fixed. I fiqured that I saved at least $300 so it certainly made today a good day.

Tomorrow muzzleloading seasons opens and I need to shoot 3 more does and David needs to get his limit. Ten deer just barely provide the amout of venison I would like to put up each year. David and I no longer shoot any bucks that are less than the ones we have hanging on the wall, so if either of us score a buck it should be a dandy. It's unfortunate the everyone hunting around us shoot anything brown or we all would soon be seeing much nicer buck. However, just because they don't practice deer management doesn't preclude us from doing what we feel to be right. I will be pickling the hind quarters from two deer to make a meat that is very similar to corned beef and I also intend to brine and then smoke cook at least two hinds. I've never tried it before but I believe that when it is fully cooked, cooled and thinly sliced it should make for some incredible "sammiches".

My DH bought the property next door to where he grew up. His folks live just next door thru the woods. However I am from Georgia a very long way from "home". I met DH when he was stationed in Fort Benning GA.

Great job repairing your appliances Opa! My husband Jon does the same thing. Last repair was $23 for a safety switch on the dryer.

One of Jon's friend is on his way to our house. He lives in Howell, New Jersey... it is 10-11 hours (closer to 10 for a race car driver) to get to Howell, Michigan! For business so he is staying the night, then tomorrow deliver the race engine and head back to New Jersey.
Just got a report he is just going through Pittsburgh... we have awhile

Off to get some house work done.

I need a dose of the Christmas sprit. Just can't get in the mood. Need to get shopping done and the tree put up. Then there is the village and navity scene. Anyone want to come over and make my house look like Christmas?? Everyone expects things to go on as normal. Maybe tomorrow I'll make it happen!
Hope all had a good day. It sure was cold out there. Down to the 20's tonight. Brrrrr...and who are you people that actually like this weather??

Boyd <------------------------- = Misplaced Texan

Where in Texas are you from, Boyd? I was born in San Antonio, grew up in Bartlesville, OK (an hour east of Tulsa), and moved back to San Antonio to finish high school. Then, I moved to Dallas when I was 19, and lived there for 18 years until I moved here. I moved here in October of 2006 in order to move on with my relationship with my now hubby. We had been dating for a while long distance, and knew that we wanted to continue the relationship. Hubby's an upper level executive, and I'm more of a mom-type, so I was the logical choice to move. I haven't regretted it even for one day. I love it here! It's amazing to experience the four seasons, and the Summers here are so beautiful! I love the lakes-in Dallas one was lucky to be able to get their boat in the water. Most of the time, the lakes were too dried up from drought. And....I haven't had to deal with allergies or athsma since moving here. Nope. Don't miss it at all.

Dallas and Canton area... My ma now lives in Waxahachie, sis is in Plano, Lil bro is in Carelton and I have cousins as far south as Galveston and west to San Antonio

4 seasons are great... but I'd love to do without the bitter cold brr.......

Good morning everyone!!
Definetely a cold one today. Glad to see we don't have to much snow here, but I heard from my sister last night they had some on the ground and more coming. She lives on the west side of the state, in the Big Rapids area.
Today is hatch day at my house. I had 3 babies when I went to bed last night and 3 more when I got up this morning. 8 more eggs to go.
