Sam, that is too funny! I wouldn't think it was funny if it had been Macy doing that, though. Thank you, again, for all your pointers during your visit. I'm going to TSC in a little while to pick up some of the supplies that we discussed.

Tom and I took our first animals to the processor yesterday. Had to drive 95 miles to a place called Yale. Apparently, that's the closest USDA processor to us. They were very kind and sensitive, and helpful. It was kind of hard for me, especially since Jessie was scared and didn't want to get off the trailer. Big sissy bull. I felt so bad for him. I went to pet him and say goodbye, and then we went to have a beer. Tom and I figure that now that we've done it with an animal that we got attached to, it will be easier from here on out. Now I'm putting together a list of chefs to market to, and hoping that Jessie tastes really good.

I have 8 chicks out of the 12 eggs I put in. ( two were questionable eggs, so not really expecting anything from them.) I made some adjustments from the last hatch I had, and went bad. They all came out at once, and on time.

I'll be moving them out of the bator later into a temporary brooder while I wait to see if at least two of those other eggs do anything. I want to bring them all out to the uber brooder at one time.

I'll post some pictures later today of them.

The Wynette Boys ( two of our young roosters ) did well, and I pretty much know who the father is. I'll end up seperating the roosters I want paired with who, but at least now I know what settings to have incubator on, and who to seperate with who. I plan on getting a hovabator in the next month since Opa's worked nicely. It's a new hygrometer I'm in debate about. I'm not sure what one to get yet.

Good Morning all! There's sun outside!!!

Gonna go out in a minute to take care of Kristin's animals and then mine. Mom 2em all... where do you live. Maybe we can work something out. Meet and you can ride with Kristin and me.
Opa... they say dogs don't remember if they have been bad...then why was neighbor's dog hiding behind couch. I dont' know how "they" can say such things!

I'll have the bator long before that.

I'll be getting some jersey giant eggs from Wynette too. Maybe I'll hatch those with yours. Maybe I'll have myself a birthday hatch.

The silkie isn't laying yet, but I've caught her in the next box a few times this past week. She's close.

By the way, The honeywell hygrometer is off 5 percent. Temp on it is spot on, but I had temp slightly too high last time. I adjusted accordingly this hatch, and Doug wanted me to try the egg cartons this time. They came out like popcorn. He said... I'd use the egg cartons again.

It did seem to help though.

Ok, here's a pic or two to start with. The huge white one is from an Isa egg that I didn't expect to hatch. The father is Houdini, an Olive egger. The rest are from two BCM eggs, ( Roxi ) and 5 welsummer eggs. One of the welsummer egg chicks turned out black. The rest are the light colored.

It was one of the chicks I got at chickenstock from Wynette. One of the roosters is an Olive egger, and the other is Black Copper Maran. I pretty sure the father is the Olive Egger Houdini. There's a small chance the father is the black copper maran, but doubtful. Let me find a picture of them both. Hang on.

This is the olive egger Houdini from over the summer. He is HUGE, and MUCH bigger now.

This the black copper maran, Stevie standing next to Houdini on the left from over the summer. He's not as big as Houdini. They have both filled out quite bit since summer. The male silkie in the back right is from Shelley. He only mates with the other silkie. However, he is either top roo, or second in charge. Stevie is third in rank for sure.

A small number of the chicks have feathering on their legs. Most are clean legged.

Both roosters have feathered legs. In fact, Houdini has more feathers on his legs than Stevie. I'm not sure if leg feathering is dominant or recessive, or how that works. It surprised me to see only a few with leg feathers.

Pippin is a toy rat terrier, he was a rescue and was 9 months old when we got him. He has been the smartest dog we have ever had and such a cuddler. He will let our Husky know if he gets to rough for him and the husky will back off. Funny since the husky weighs almost 50 pounds more than Pippin.

I am here from Northern Lower not too far from Traverse City.

Oh ya I have on Old English Game Bantam Roo One Brahma Bantam Hen and 4 Sumatras One roo and 3 hens they are only 7 months old but my roo is a beauty. So is my old English guy.
