Kodi, the Husky loves to be outside too, especially now. But I won't let him out unsupervised and DH is working thirds this week so Kodi doesn't get out as much as he should.
Well I guess I have procrastinated long enough, need to go clean the coop.........

Everyone sure is chatty today! Must be the beautiful sunshine. I know I LOVE it. I have to clean out the coop this weekend myself. I actually enjoy doing it but it takes a lot out of me. I was hoping to wait longer but my chickens have gotten finicky. They don't come out often when it's really cold and that means more poo-poo inside. YUCKY AND SMELLY!

Do any of you happen to have geese mixed in with your chickens? We have turkeys and chickens in the same area but I realllly would love to have a couple geese this year. There is NO way hubby will build me another fenced in area and coop for them so the only way I could do so would be by having them all hang out together. I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions if anyone has experience....

Not often you get the chance to clean out the coops in January. I "borrowed" the shavings from Krisrose....shh, don't tell her. Want to see if she notices 5 bags of shavings missing from her garage! My chickens are enjoying the sun on my front porch. They are so loving it!
My dogs know to sit on the stoop in front of the door to get their paws wiped. They just lift their paws one at a time for me to wipe. Hope you all have a great day. Go out and enjoy the weather!!

What was wrong with me I cleaned the coop last weekend when it was freezing. would of been a much better day today for it.

When you guys do a coop cleaning in the winter are you doing a full clean? I have been taking out wet stuff under waterer as needed and still no poop boards, that is still on the to do list for my husband, so I shovel out half of the shaving under the roost and add more shaving. Doing a partial cleaning and adding more shaving is working well for us so far.

I have a question to whoever I was talking to at chickenstock. I am short with red hair if that helps. I was talking to a lady about turkeys and she had some poults for sale, and had just went to a turkey ranch with someone else from BYC. I wanted to go to the turkey website but I cannot remember the name of it or the name of who I was talking to a chickenstock. Help.

I also wanted to know if anyone here makes saddles for chickens. I have 3 chickens starting to get bare backs and one got a big gash from the roosters claw. I treated that with antibiotic ointment. She is doing good but I think I need to do something more proactive to protect their backs.

I happened to pick up two of the turkey poults from Babzoo that day. The grey slate didn't make it, died mysteriously after about 2 months, but the RP is still around and beautiful. Although I still can't figure if it's a male or female
