I don't know how much of a drive it would be for you but I just put a 2nd pot on and you're welcome to it.

Good morning Everyone.

With the help of the sun and the miny rotertillers we have quite a bit of ground showing now. Hubby put up a temporary fence yesterday to section off the yard. Hopefully we will get some grass to come back. I really had no idea the girls were going to be this destructive. When I open the slider to the back porch now, they run to the fence and seem confused that they can't come any closer. I think I am going to miss looking out and seeing them all waiting for treats. But I guess I won't miss the poo on the porch

Have a great day

Good morning!

Opa- we have 3 happy bantam roos also

Rachel put some hens with all of them. She wants baby chicks for Easter.

Question: How long does it take for eggs to be fertile after a roo is introduced?

Enjoy the warm weather!

Once, however I'm not sure at what point the sperm would be introduced to the eggs in line in the oviduct. I would think maybe a week after breeding you should start see fertilized eggs.

Good morning. Mom 2em all, no coffee. That is a start to a bad morning. I NEED my coffee and at least 15 minutes of quiet in the morning. Then the kids can wake up or people can talk to me. Can you tell I'm not a morning person.

Those white eggs that were given to us are being sat on by a turkey and a hen. The turkey seems to want the night shift and the hen is taking the day shift. I have tried getting the turkey off the nest, but I like having all my fingers so I now leave her alone.

thepremo1, we don't have our chicks yet. I ordered them on Feb 19th and was told 3 weeks and that they usually come in on Tuesdays. So I'm planning on having them by the 16th. I just went out yesterday and bought the second light, waterer, etc. Now I want to pick up a couple new brooders. I'm hoping to get the light bramahs and blue cochins from ooopsie daisy mid April. I cant wait to have all these babies in the house. 15 total in the two brooders. My kids are going to love it, not to mention the cats and dogs.

Are you getting everything gathered for your brooder yet? How are plans on the coop coming?

I was thinking a week too. Rachel wants to start trying to hatch now though

So March 14 she is going to start incubating and have a hatch on Easter

Hey all, I am thinking of placing an order from Metzers from some goslings. They will ship as little as 4, but charge extra for heat packs, small order charge etc. So I thought I would check and see if anyone was interested in ordering any ducks or geese. They have excellent stock from what I have heard, second only to Holderreads, but much cheaper. Holderreads doesn't carry what I am looking for right now, so this is my best choice. Here is the site if anyone wants to check them out: http://www.metzerfarms.com/

Hi Everyone!

I have to say thank you to Opa for bringing the smoked chicken to chickenstock last year. I loved it so much that I asked for a smoker for Christmas. I'm so totally hooked. It is currently smoking one of our farm raised Turkey right now. Yummy! Turkey really is great year round. Can't wait to get more poults in, the freezer is getting low on poultry.
