I've been doing some reading about increasing the protein level when hens are moulting....salmon/mackeral or cat food - does anyone increase protein levels when moulting?

No, they aren't even hatched yet. We had just heard that it is very difficult to process ducks. We do not have a plucker, and we'll be doing about 20 of them at a time.
Thanks, M2M, I'll check out Destiny Farms. I bought some plants from them last year. Very strange people, but they've got a nice set-up.
Sarah I am so happy to hear the news about Amy. I got a little choked up when I read she is doing so much better. I am soooo happy for all of you but most expecially her children. I think it would be life altering to lose your mom as a child. Give them all big
Carol its so nice to see you back. How are you? Happy soon to be birthday
I would love to paint a barn for you. I have always wanted to do a barn. Like those old ads. Thats why I did the Campbells Soup kids for my coop. I figured its the closest I'd come to the side of a barn. LOL
I would love to learn how to make wine. My mom did when we were younger. Alas I was too young to partake.
We really enjoyed the nice weather today. I actually got started on a new hoop house. We are experimenting with a few different styles this year. I hope to build at least 3 more before the year is out.
If I have several birds molting at the same time, I do give them additional protein. But I just take my 24% Grower and mix it with the usual 18% Layer feed that I use. It does seem to help them feather back in faster.
I can't sleep well either Zepher. I have a cold, or it's allergies. I've never had allergies, but it seems I have them now. I tried this stuff called alavert, it seems to work, but I still can't breathe, my eyes are itchy, and watery, and I'm sneezing all over the place.
The kleenex with lotion on them...They lie, I still have raw, red nose.
Hustonn... I feed flockraiser which is higher protein. Everyone gets it, and we leave free choice oyster shells out for the girls. Some of mine should be molting soon, but haven't yet.
Shelley.... Boy, did she fuss! She made darn sure everyone knew about it too.
Now, I know what a silkie egg looks like! I almost didn't see it. It was buried under the pine shavings. Cass' wanted me to pass along, She wants B/B/S silkie eggs when she gets here in June. She wants to try hatching them.
I apologize for any spelling/grammar errors. I'm kind of out of it still, and it all looks right to me at the moment...
