Have a good day everyone.

sevenchickens - I have raised the colored range birds and love them. I have already plasced my orders fot the entire summer starting at the end of April. PM or Call me and I can tell you more.

the premo1 - 4-H is a group for kids. I was in a 4-H group for horses growing up. We met 1x a month to learn about horses. In the summer we actually brought our horses and practiced or horse shows. There were also 3 shows during the summer and fair at the end of the year. If you placed high enough in the summer shows you were eligible to participate at the state event in Lansing. 4-H is nationwide and is part of the county extension services. Michigan State is the college here that is part of the 4-H program.

- So glad you had so much fun at Disney. We were there with our kids in 2008. They keep begging to go back.

Muscovie eggs are very difficult to hatch with an incubator, but that short amount of power outage should not make a difference in the outcome. I would suggest you search the hatching thread or duck thread for information about hatching them. I have goose eggs in for the firts time and wow is that different. I did not realize I would need to take them out everyday and let them cool down. Then I need to spray them with water before they go back in. Hopefully after all this work we will get some peeps.

Good morning all

I had a busy end of the week and weekend. Took the cats to the vet Thursday and Frodo weighs 17 & 1/2 pounds

By the time we got home I had to give the only girl cat a bath as if she wasn't stressed out enough because of taking her out of the house. That was fun

At least it is only once a year. Saturday was our dinner with the kids and I made pineapple chicken. Boy was that good. Today I will be back to spring cleaning.
Welcome to ferret and plowdriver and anyone else I might have missed. Please check out the link in my siggy for information on the upcoming Michigan chickenstock. We would be glad to have you there.
Mom2, I hope your MIL will be ok.

!!

Mom 2emAll- Sorry to hear about your MIL. I'll be pullin' for her (and you). Are you feeling better about your 'scovies? Their siblings are just sitting there. No sign of hatching yet!! I guess I'll have to wait for 33 more days

Good morning everyone!
frow.gif

This time change has really messed my schedule up. I'm having a hard time adjusting for some reason.

It seems like a lot of BYC folks had busy weekends.
D.gif
All of my "busy" was done indoors...just too nasty outside. I had 2 broodies hatch out a boatload of Silkie chicks this weekend. It was terribly hard to take those babies away from them
hit.gif
...they did such a good job with their hatches. But I had to vaccinate the chicks, and since the chicks are for sale, I figured it best to just keep them in the house. 2 broodies down, 3 more to go...plus the continuous flow of eggs in the incubators.
lau.gif

If anyone is looking for some good dual purpose chicks, I've got some nice heritage Delaware/ Rosecomb RIR chicks (2 & 3 wks old) for sale, all have been vaccinated.

Hope everyone has a great day! I'm headed out to build a PVC hoop house for my Freedom Rangers. Hopefully we'll see the sun sometime today.

Ok everyone..... I have the baby chick disease! My daughter has convinced me that since we are ordering some meat birds why don't we just order the minumum 30 bantam assortment too?!? So Rachel can expand her bantam varieties
ep.gif

So we don't need 30 more bantams...not sure where we will keep them all. So if anyone is looking for a few bantams let me know. I can let you know what they offer, but it around a dozen different clean and feather legged bantams.

Sarah

Just wait til my husband finds out!

I am so glad I am in good company on here with all the chicks I have coming or hatching. We must all be crazy. Between our standard coop, the Serama coop and yet to build bantam coop and the hoop house, I don't know if we will have enough space for everyone. Might need a second hoop house or..... split the feed shed down the middle and make small area for chickens and add a run to the side.

I skimmed old messages, but if I missed anything while I was gone, feel free to catch me up. I think someone was looking for a serama rooster. I don't have any extra right now, but do have a few eggs in the bator right now, most from this out of this boy here, named Prince Charming by my youngest. I also have a pretty little white boy that should be producing some new babies too. Can't wait to see what he throws.

I know that May 1st there is a swap meet at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds. There are others too. I don't know the name of the one organization that has swaps throughout the state.

Michigan Game Bird Assn has a swap coming up in April at Imlay City Fairgrounds—quite a hike for you, though. I think its around April 24, but you could check their website.

Depending on what you're looking for, lots of us are hatching right now and have extra birds. Put the word out on what you want.

Welcome!
