Headed for David's in a few minutes but I wanted to post a picture of the beautiful bird that Yaklady was kind enough to give me.

Good Afternoon and Happy Easter!!!!!

Co-helped with the sun rise breakfast this morning. Lots of fun. Had Easter at noon at my folks and we are home and done for the day. A nap is calling right now

Rachel has 2 baby chicks hatched so far. They are black Ameraucana bantams.

Off to get the boys down for naps so I can. 4 hours of sleep is not enough!

What an amazing day! The first year in decades that I was NOT hosting a gigantic to-to. But it was okay: We went out to lunch & came home to enjoy our home & pets & riding bikes & what-not. Simple pleasures & no hassles. Lovely!

I hope everyone else had a super day.

Hey - I do have one question for you all. I recently agreed to send some eggs to a BYCer on an "honor system" agreement. It would thrill me to see some of my Silkie eggs hatched & I only want postage reimbursed. Is this naive of me? I'd only be out about $7 and it is not a really big deal, but I would love some feed back. I suppose that I fear that there is one person getting dozens of eggs for free and I will hear about this much later. My 'gut' is that BYCers are good people.

Really bummed this morning. The heat lamp got unplugged during the night (the extension cord runs into the hen house) so I have several dead chicks. I ran them all into the incubator and they are warming up. So mad at myself right now!!!!

never had this issue before. I am hoping the rest make it! And that putting everyone in the incubator doesn't mess up the rest of the hatch. 3 new chicks and another is hatching.

What a difference some warmth makes! I thought 1/2 or more were dead out of 29 chicks. Just moved everyone back to the brooder and only 5 died, they were the ones that ran to the other end of the stock tank after the light went out. I have one in the incubator still, I thought that it was dead at 6am and removed it, but it moved so I put it back in the bator. She drank a few minutes ago and is sleeping right now. Rachel's 3 chicks that hatched yesterday have joined the older chicks and they seem to be doing fine too.

Rachel still has one hatching. I put some water on the memberane to moisten it up after the lid getting opened and 29 chicks thrown in with it.

Off to get some breakfast for the kids. Busy day and yes Opa things look a lot brighter already! The sun is shining and the grass is green too!

This was our silly cat this weekend. Found herself a nice spot to watch all the happenings.

Sorry that you lost some, but good that so many made it.

I think my 2 eggs in the incubator died. Day 22 and nothing, not a pip, not a cheep. I wonder what I've been doing wrong ...
