Lyonfuzz! This is a great site. It's funny how the flock grows when you swear it's only going to be 4 hens, and that's it. That's the way it was for me.....actually, I just wanted to borrow a couple of chickens to rid my flower garden of grasshoppers. I went back in the fall without the chickens and told the person, you can't have Lavern and Shirley back!! Now I have 31 chickens! Hard to resist those fuzzy butts!
Looks like it's gonna be another beautiful day! What a difference the sun makes in people's moods. Hope you feel better soon, Sam. I'm just getting over what sounds like you have. Still coughing some, but much better. Sure drained me, tho. Rest and take care of yourself. Have a good one, all!

Chickflick: Speaking of chicks...I had 59 chicks hatch out this past week/weekend. This morning as I was feeding, a couple of the SHOWGIRL chicks were cheeping "Is Rose my mommy?"

Our Blue Muscovy Hen started setting her eggs Saturday night. She is being such a good girl. She is absolutely gorgeous, and I cannot wait to see these little quackers.

I have Silkie hatching eggs for anyone who wants --- I mean, NEEDS --- them. We usually charge $2.50 for eggs to eat. We also have eggs from an Americauna rooster in with Wyandottes and cochins. They'd be Easter eggers. We have one broody hen on six Silkie eggs & that is my firm limit this Spring

I swear! So, if I can enable anyone else, I am happy to do so!
We are in the Bay City area. PM me.

I feel for you! I hate nights like that. My girls were the worst on kicking at night. Boys are as bad, but I got them trained now to sleep on the couch when they come up, just have to get up and tuck them in. They seem fine with it and I get my sleep

You are so funny, my friend!! Wish I made my bantam coop bigger, cuz I'd be over there picking out lots of chicks!! You are such an enabler!! What are friends for, right?

There is a Chukar (determined after researching on web) at our school on the grounds... are they normally wild in this area? It came right up to the window of the lunchroom, but walked away when I went up to the window. I did go outside, but it would just walk away (not fly). Seems fine, but seems odd to be by itself... Any suggestions? It may be gone by time school is out.

Chukar Partridge are not native to this area, actually not this country at all even (Asia) though they have been successfully released to western states and to several islands of Hawaii. It could be a decendent to released birds, but most likely is a released or an escaped bird.
