I love the lawnmowers too. Just wouldn't want to step in the presents they leave behind!

Thanks, SillyChicken. That's sweet of you. Until you're ready for your own lawn mowers, you can come visit mine anytime.

Wylie, the presents they leave behind are just part of the whole lawn service operation. These mowers fertilize, aerate and mow all at the same time!

Bonus!!

Hello everyone. I need some advice. We have 12 meat birds that are about half way to slaughter age. I was wondering if anyone on our side of town knows anyone that processes chickens.

Looking forward to meeting you all in June.

Thanks

I am having some pecking issues with the chicks. It started over a week ago.Starts with feather pecking and once there is blood it get bad. I only use the red bulbs, I upped the protien, gave them more space, and things to keep them busy. This weekend we got the bantam coop finished enough to get them outside with a heat lamp to give them even more space. So now they are in 8x10 coop and today was the worst, I went back out to check on them to find one chicks tail pecked down to the bone with skin missing down to the vent. Poor thing. It's cleaned up and in a brooder with a couple others that were healing still. So I went out found the ones with blood on there beaks and faces and clipped there beaks down a little. I hope this helps otherwise I don't know what to do.

Briana from what I have read about this, you need to isolate the injured birds until they are completely healed....we had an EE that lost a tremendous amount of feathers on her back down to her tail when she was moulting...we sprayed bluecoyte on the bare spot and everyone left her alone...but she also hadn't been picked on - it was a preventative...I also don't know if you keep the injured birds together if the behavior will continue. I've also read about packing the injury w/agricultural lime....hope this helps.

When our meat birds do this occasionally we feed them liver, chopped up. Seems to satisify whatever they are lacking that causes the pecking til bleeding. Cannot hurt to try.

OUCH!!!! I hope they get well soon, Briana. Poor lil' things.

I have another question for those of you who are familiar with ducks. I've recently had to put my IR drake and one Pekin duck in a stall with the ducklings. I'm giving these two adults to my neighbors across the street as soon as they get their set-up ready. My IR drake recently began fighting my Cayuga drake for mating rights. I don't want any babies from my IR drake, which is why I'm giving him away. Now that he's isolated away from my breeders, how long do I have to wait to collect the eggs for hatching? I guess what I mean is, how long will a chance remain that the eggs are 'blessed with IR seeds'? I want to be sure that the eggs are 'blessed' by my Cauga drake, but not sure how long I need to wait to be sure that the blessings are the right kind of blessings.

Larry, is Caro close to you? I just posted a guys info a couple of pages back that was passing out cards at the Imlay City swap, his prices were very reasonable and someone else posted they had used him and were pleased. Otherwise, can't help you since I am in the middle of the state. Hope that helps.

It was a somewhat long but good trip to take the geese to SillyChicken's

They are going to love it there! I can only imagine what everyone behind us thought when they saw two geese just hanging out in the back seat of a Buick-wagon.... LMAO I'm sure it was quite the sight!

It was nice to meet another fellow BYCer
