I've got my garden planted save for green beans. I forgot to buy seed. I think I'll buy some transplants at Brian's Market in West Branch after work tomorrow. Anyone know of a good preferably non-hybrid variety of green/snap beans that grows well in Michigan?

I've got sweet corn, yukon gold & red pontiac potatoes, rutgers & early girl tomatoes, green/yellow/purple peppers, jalapenos, cucumbers, radishes, carrots and onions in the garden now. My blueberry bushes are also flowering, so I hope to get a respectable berry crop this year. Blueberries were all put in last year.

BlueMoon, the plot marked for "public access" has surveyor stakes around it, but supposedly it isn't going in

So I've got to do some looking into stuff this week.

Hey there, has anyone had any issues with bumble bees?

We have one, that may or may not be gone, who was so fixed on one spot of the coop roof that he was chewing through the paint. We're pretty sure it's trying to build a nest and we're pretty sure we don't want it doing that.

Any ideas on how to deter bees and other bugs from building nests without outright killing them?
Don't want to kill the bees as there is enough of them dying on their own.

I am beat.

We pulled out shrubs, dismantled brooders, weed wacked, went to a green house, planted most of the flowers, veggie gardens are now so wet you will get your shoes stuck, so now putting all the vegetables in has to wait, cleaned 3 of the 4 coops, laundry, maintance on air conditioner, and cleaned out a freezer we bought from a cousin for chickens and turkeys. My husband helped with all this. This was all today. I am going to bed. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Good Morning all.
I had a very busy weekend- worked on Saturday and then worked in the yard yesterday. Accomplished a whole lot- but didnt get any housework or laundry done.
FIVE out of seven of my banties are roosters.
What am I supposed to do with them? Two pretty d'uccle pullets and all the rest are boys. Not fair. And they scrap! Three of them fight so much, I can walk right up and scoop them up because they are too busy fighting to notice that I am there. Thankfully there is no crowing yet.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning!!!

Great weekend

the kids ended up swimming yesterday! The earliest I can remember. Some racing friends of my husbands invited us over. Jon swam too with the boys. I left and went and bought some capri's since I had nothing to wear. Now this morning the kids say they don't have shorts....which I know they do, the joys of girls!

If anyone is interested in circle track racing, my husband has won the last 2 weekends! He is the points leader for now

Jon races a dwarf car. Check out this website: www.midwestclassicracers.com
Check out the schedule, they may be coming to a track near you!

Have a great day everyone!!! Archery this afternoon and then the next 3 mornings the girls have the Iowa Standardize testing. They are not thrilled, but need to know where they are academicly. I then know if I need to do something different with the curriculum that we use.

Off to get another load of laundry on the line to dry.

I thought about planting the garden, but I knew it would be too wet. so I am planning on some evenings in a few days, then it will be done
