Good Morning!

A gray day out this morng! Yesterday was my oldest birthday...14 years old now! She wanted to go to the zoo so we drove down to Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek. We went to Africa and got to feed, pet and get licked by a giraffe

Have a great day and I am loving the warm weather

Sarah,
How is the Binder Park Zoo? We are always looking for alternatives to the Detroit Zoo. A smaller zoo would be great for my 4 year old!

I love the Binder Park Zoo and Toledo are my favorite. I bought a family membership at Binder so we can go free for a whole year. It helped too that it was cheapier to purchase the membership than one day tickets. With the membership we can go to other zoos for 50% off the ticket prices too. A few years ago, it use to be free to any other zoo, but they must of caught on to that!

Potter Park Zoo is good for little kids too. The animals are a lot closer than Detroit and a lot less walking.

Yesterday we got to the zoo late- almost 2pm so we only got to go to Africa. We now have an excuse to go back real soon and see the rest of the zoo!

If you ever go to Frankenmuth, there is a little private zoo on the north/south road leading into Frankenmuth coming from the south. It is nice too.

Cute!

My BIL has a male Cayuga that he wants to re home free since he cannot find a mate for it. The drake is lonely and needs a mate, my BIL is feeling sorry for him. If anyone is interested please pm me.

I was trying to decide if I was going to go out to the shop, I need to make an "EGGS FOR SALE" sign, or go to the job we have going. Now it's started raining so rather risk melting I think I'll just sit here, drink coffee and read.

Good Choice! I did my computer time before heading out and I am soaked now!

Off to dry myself off. Glad that I don't have to water again today

Pretty close! The giraffe put it's tongue through the mesh side of the platform and ate lettuce from Nathan's hand....and boy do they have long tongues and can curl the end of their tongue to hold on to the lettuce!

Binder Park is awesome, we love it!! Potter Park is ok, for a small zoo, but Binder is our favorite. We visited Toledo Zoo with my oldest daughter's zoology class but only got to see a little bit of it because we were there for some learning stuff, it looked really cool too. We are hoping to visit it this summer.

Hello all!
This appears to be the thread where we introduce ourselves - correct me if I'm wrong!

We live in the Upper Peninsula (the Copper Country to be exact) in Houghton County. We're raising 50 Cornish X for the first time using the moveable chicken pens. It's been interesting, and we're planning for processing in July. Are there many yoopers on here? Are there others willing to talk meat birds and michigan laws? I did find the specific meat bird threads, so I will be posting over there, too! This is fun, but not without hiccups. We lost 5 birds the first week, but I *think* that's an acceptable amount. I'm not worried, anyway. We're using unmedicated chick starter (we had to travel to get it!).

I look forward to interacting with you all. I'll be trolling boards for info. I'm glad I found this,
Jennifer
