Inspite of the floating feathers I guess I can't complain too much about egg production. Two or three days of 10 or 11 and then they have been back to 16-18. I'm not expecting the welsummers to start laying until October. While they are starting to look like they should they won't be 5 months old until the end of the month and past experience has been 26-28 weeks. While I have a hen and 5 week old pullet on flock raiser, the rest of my flock is from 16 weeks to 2 years and I have them on Layena pellets. I am thinking about switching to all Flock Raiser if I can find it in pellets.

You have no idea the restraint it is requiring for me to not type "I'll take 'em!" right now though. Must you tease me like this?

I love my geese. Don't tell the other fowl, but they're my favorites by FAR. And all these Americans in one spot -- and BLUES?! and LAVENDERS?! -- oy!

I could make a really good deal if you were interested in them all!!

Mainly I want them to go to a good home!

Oh, the temptation!

How old are they?

And just in the spirit of full disclosure we do raise all our livestock for the freezer. We keep breeders and raise up birds every year for the freezer so we would likely be processing some of their offspring next year. I know some people would exclude us from being a "good home" because of that so I just wanted to make sure you did know in advance. I wouldn't want any confusion, animosity or hurt feelings when that time came. We love them while they're here and they have very happy, healthy, free ranging lives, but some do end up on the table in the end.

Picked up four 2 month old aracauna chicks today. Yesterday we picked up 4 br chicks from the same place! I just want a few more layers then I'm done!

My wonderful boyfriend dug a really cute duck pond today. My little calls are big enough to spend more time outside now. They were out there all day today in the dog run while Aric was building the duck enclosure. I think the calls were mad at me when I brought them in lol. But, it wasn't long til they were out and they have been really quiet ever since. That makes for a rough day for 3 little babies!

Now I'm patiently waiting to pick up 2 cayugas from Kim, woohoo! I've waited a long time it seems!

Tomorrow is going to be fun watching all 5 of them in their new playplace for ducks!

No, no scovies, sold those all last year. Hubby didn't like them free ranging and hanging out on our front porch!!

I am so sorry about all ur feathered friends leaving but...what color seramas do you have? and do you know how much for them?

The hens that I would be letting go are black. I haven't decided what roosters yet. I just hatched about some 2 batches new batches from a couple BYC members that are turning out really nice. Only problem, mostly roosters! LOL So some of them will definitely be going. No blacks among them, all different colors. I will try to get pics of them this weekend and get back to you. They are the only ones I hadn't really sorted through yet.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my seramas!!!!

I've been doing some serious thinking about letting go of a few of my stock. I hate to, but I really want more layers. I have 4 Belgian Quail hens and a BQ rooster. It's not that I don't like them, I really do, but at this point I just want some laying hens.

rooster. He's a comedian!

If anyone would like them and can trade me a few layers, I'd love that. Even if I have to pay a little bit on top that's cool too. I haven't had them long and I really don't want to let them go, but we don't have as much room as most so I need the room for laying hens!

My bf really wants a m & f guinea. I don't know much about them but it's what he wants so if you have those that would work too. Any combination would work. Like I've said before, we are fairly new at this chicken thing. We both grew up with them though.

So...can anyone help? lol

keyt, you should have the ducks by now- I hope they are up to your expectations!

I was surprisingly incredibly sad this morning to not be greeted by Psyducks' loud quack and of course, Opie's lovely quiet self.

My runner is chasing the male muscovy all over the yard- I really have to find some female scovies.

Heck, even the male mallard was chasing the scovy.

Good morning everyone! Im a little weirded out by my doctors appointment yesterday where they put me through an entire plethora of tests and xrays.
I have bronchitis, got an inhaler and some antibiotic, and I have TMJ disorder in which I have some meds to help with that and arthritis in my neck, and need to see a dental specialist for my jaw..but none of those diagnoses freaked me out like the ecg. He said the left atrium of my heart is enlarged. I have to go for an echocardiogram in two weeks-
so, that left me with googling it when I got home.

I dont recommend the internet for information - because with my personality I, of course, only saw the scary stuff. The rest of my bloodwork- thyroid, cholesterol, etc, I have to call in four days to find out.

In other news, nice beautiful day outside today- I hope everyone gets to enjoy it. I have a little bit of everything to do today, but nothing that cant wait, if need be.
Right now, I think I need another cup of coffee.

Good morning people!!

I'm excited today bc hubby and I are taking a mini road trip out to Trader Joe's! I've been reading about that Trader Joe's egg hatching thread so I figured I'd go out there and see if they had any. It's about a be hour drive to get out there but I love going to other different grocery stores. I guess I'm a dork like that. Oh! And I also had a nice duck egg breakfast burrito!!

Not much is happening in the barn today, got two duck eggs this morning and another weird Siamese egg, this time it was two hard ones stuck together. Weird.

Hope everyone has a nice and relaxing day, and get lots of eggs! OooOooOooo, there having a chick sale at our Family Farm store next week. They have Isa's and broilers, I'm very excited!!
