Good afternoon. Feeling kinda blaa today. Had to much fun at our friends wedding last night. Good thing I got all the house work done yesterday.

CF we have a Trader Joe's in Ann Arbor.

M2emA I wish you the best with your medical issues. Hopefully it won't be anything awful.

*hmphf* You southeast MI people get all the good stuff. I won't move out of the boondocks, but they could at least bring some of the cool stores to Lansing. That's only an hour or so away for me, instead of three or four hours. We have a university too, darnitall! *stomps foot*

Kim,

They were MUCH MORE than my expectations!!! WOW, they are gorgeous!!! I had the little ones in the enclosure when they got here and when that box was opened I couldn't believe my eyes! At first they were unsure of the water (for the time being we have white plastic in the hole to hold the water in) but a few minutes after your brother left, they got right in. Then the fun began! They were splashing like crazy and looked like the happiest ducks on earth! The little ones just sat there and watched. A few times they would go up to the water and one of the big ones would go gently up to them but the little ones would run away. They still haven't gotten in the water, but it's only the first day.

Opie really is quiet! Psyduck so far isn't making much noise either. After they had played for about an hour, I opened the door to the chicken run to see what they would do. The chickens came into the pond area and sniffed around a little bit but the ducks chased them back in. I think every chicken has been chased by the ducks so none of them will go near them lol

They have had watermelon, corn (neighbor dropped off corn cobs) and some garden lettuce. Only been here a few hours and already spoiled!!

Again, THANK YOU!!!!

So today has been a very exciting and eventful day as I'm sure you gathered from my last post.

Kim was wonderful enough to re-home two of her beautiful cayugas with me today! I have wanted one for SO long but never lived where I could have one until I moved here to my bf's place where it's been his family farm for decades.

I have waited all week, literally counting hours til they got here. Last night my wonderful bf was sweet enough to dig a hole for a pond and get it all set up! I let the 3 little calls in there before the cayugas got here, but they wanted nothing to do with the water, and still don't. It's probably a bit big for them yet because they loved their little plastic box of water when I put them in there to cool off.

They are also overwhelmed by the size of the cayugas. Although even after I opened the door to the chicken run, they still stayed where the big ducks were, they just didn't want to be on the same side of the pond lol. They laid there and watched them the whole time like they knew they were ducks but the size and their voice was just a little bit bigger lol.

When they first got there they were unsure whether to get in or not, probably because of the plastic. It's a temporary set up til I get more money to expand where I want it.

This is also the first day the babies spent in here. This is the 3rd board I tried to get them to use to get into the water. The biggest one tried it, but as soon as one of the cayugas turned around, so did she! lol

So they just spent the rest of the time just laying there watching. They were definitely fascinated. Every once in a while one of them would start to approach the other two, but as soon as the bigger duck would take a step, the 3 would go running!

Didn't take long for them to get comfortable and start to play!

I think I have a couple of camera posers!

I then opened the door to the chicken run. They stood there like they were unsure if they should go in. Shortly thereafter they did and all the chickens started heading toward them.

Didn't take long before they let it be known they were bigger and badder and everyone walked away. Well, except for the mama BR's. I think there's gonna be some competition there!

Not long after they got here, the neighbor came over with some watermelon and corn which of course was a hit! We're lucky because the neighbor grew a huge garden and no one in his family will eat anything out of it, so the chickens and ducks will be getting stuff out of his and our gardens!

I'm sure they're glad for this pond today as hot as it is!

Oh yay! I am so glad...
sure do miss them here already, but its a big relief to know that they have a great place to be!! They look happy! Thank you for taking them, and for taking pictures! Give those babies some time, and soon they will all be a flock!
Has she quacked yet?

It's been a very quiet quacking. I haven't heard anything out of the other one at all! I cut up some watermelon for myself and they must have smelled it and the quacking got louder. So I held out a piece and Opie took it out of my hand! It made me smile especially since they haven't been here that long!

It got too hot for me out there, but I can see their yard from the kitchen window and I keep going in there to look at them. Night time is going to be interesting. There's more than enough room in the coop for everyone here and more (dont tell my bf that "and more" part lol). So far almost all of the chickens go in on their own. Sometime this week we are building in the "garage" (never been used for that only for animals or games lol) so there will be 10x more room. We just need to get through the next few days.
