Sam, did you get a stage coach and not tell anyone??? -

Opa is traveling real soon to see his family south of here. A stage coach ride probably sounded fun

Good Evening and Welcome to the new folks!

Long day and when I got home at 4:30pm the basement was flooding. The toliet stuck open then it went over the bowl. Got as much done tonight as we could, going to squeeze in more cleaning tomorrow. Not what I wanted to do today with our crazy Thursday schedule, but oh well.

Off to get some sleep. 5am always comes too early!

Fowlfest at Grandpa Tiny's in Frankenmuth is October 9th and 10th. Unfortunately I won't be attending this year as I will still be in sw Missouri. The show is a good opportunity to see some nice birds and if you think you might want to purchase some I would suggest getting there by 9am.

What the heck is this bug, my Michigan friends? It was at least 4" long, and flew up at me. Needless to say, had to change my shorts.

ETA: sorry, I didn't put much info. about the bug...I'm somewhat FREAKED OUT about it! It has pinchers like a scorpion, and when my puppy walked up to it and pawed at it, it "reared up" and began snapping its pinchers at the pup! When I got closer to get a better pic, it flew up at me, and literally circled my head as if in attack mode, like a swarm of bees would do! I have NEVER seen a bug like this anywhere...much less Michigan! It looks like a cross between a scorpion & a ginormous ROACH! ACK!

Sam - nope, for sure it's not a rhino beetle. It's not a hard shelled beetle. Not even shiny. And the "appendages" in the front actually work and move, much like a lobster, crawfish, or scorpion. It actually "Reared up" and began snapping them at my puppy! The rhino beetles appendages are overgrown mandibles (jaws).

Seeing as it is pouring down rain.. I am still in the house with a cup of coffee .. getting ready to bake cinnamon rolls. The chickens are

because it has rained every day so far. The ducks are happy as clams at high tide! I am going to try to get to Fowlfest too. Altho' it is a three hour drive from my house not so far from Royal Oak. Last year I went with my Daughter from Royal Oak and her two little ones. What FUN! Ani (who was 4 at the time ) and I made a list of chickens that we wanted to get someday - two pages long HA!

Do not think I can get anything more for the time being . Much to my husband's delight:weee
My Muskovy drake Finally has gotten it through his little pea sized brain that I am not someone to mess with . I sat on him for 5 minutes holding his head down... while the three females plopped themselves down about 4 feet away to watch.... in a row no less .. discussing what was happening .. My daughter said she wanted a video of that to put on Youtube ! BUT he has not bitten me or grabbed my pant legs since. I also threatened him with Herbs de' Provence seasoning and a roasting pan. Yes , the joys of animals . Hope it stops raining soon - the lake is lapping at the grass right now and we lost a dock section with the high winds.

It seems we lose a section every other year. Have a great day!

nodough. I believe there are members from your area. They'll show their faces soon.
Good Morning everyone! Lot colder out today. That's ok, I need to take a break and just do nothing today. Been a busy week. Have a good weekend.
