I loved winter....when I could ski or had my snowmobiles. Now that I can't do anything in it and I have to be in it with the ducks and chickens, its the really cold days I wonder what was I thinking when i got chickens and ducks again LOL My daughter has been wanting to go sledding. I figure well, I'm having surgery anyway and doc says I'll be in a wheelchair permanently within 5 years so why not have one last day of fun!! lol
Speaking of which, mine are FILTHY. I didn't really notice it til it was the last feeding time. Especially the smaller ones who are closer to the mud they've created. It wasn't a problem when the ducks had the pond. The calls are the worst!!! Made me wish I could just hose them down. At least my dogs roll around in the snow to get clean, these guys dig in it and create massive amounts of mud. There are now two huge holes in the duck run. Knowing me, had I not seen one of them when I let them out this morning, I would have tripped and landed in the frozen over pond! lol The chickens are just as bad but their holes are smaller. It's not that they aren't fed, they won't let me forget to feed them! They shouldn't be bored, I let the ducks out to run around. UGH
Update on Gizmo the rabbit: blood tests were normal. His spine and ears are fine too. I'm thankful to have a friend who is a vet instructor because I couldn't have afforded all that this month (Dec is the worst month of the year for me and I don't even buy xmas presents!) but the only thing he could come up with is he has some neurological thing he was born with. He did think his behavior is very odd. So now the decision is, do we put him back out in his hutch where there's more room and he can see his buddy on the other side or keep him in here to keep whatever this is from possibly getting worse in the cold!? Aric and I are pretty attached to him being on the porch, but then I feel bad for Elvis. I spent some extra time with him today and he soaked it up. Usually he only goes to my daughter but this morning he jumped in my arms when I opened his door! I just don't know what to do with poor Gizmo! Maybe I could get Aric to agree on building something to keep them BOTH on the porch!!
