Boy oh boy do I have a deal for you...and it's FREE! Completely FREE! I have got some high quality, white as rice on a paperplate, soft yet heavy....snow! I know, it's amazing that I would give away something this wonderful for free, but out of the kindness of my heart I'm willing to do so. It's located on and around my house, all over the road and covering my vehicles. No need to call, just come on over and help yourself to as much as you'd like.

Please come quick because it's sure to go fast...although I'm sure there will be more soon!

Ok here so far. It's not too bad yet. Only thing I worry about is the power going out. Although we could heat with the gas stove, but I much prefer the pellet stove of course. I need to call late tomorrow to see if my surgery is still on Thurs. at 8am. Aric says he'll get me there no matter what.

Hope everyone makes it through this storm ok!

Got blasted last night. 3 foot snow drift all across the back deck blocking the door. Had to push my way out and shovel just to stand. Started shoveling at 6 AM and still have half the deck to go. I'm running out of places to pile it. Needed a break so here I am complaining. Broke down and put some crumbles and leftover egg casserole inside the coop for the girls also put in the chick waterer filled with warm water. I usually keep all their food and water in the run but I'm going to have to shovel snow out of the run for the first time this winter. Still snowing and blowing. Haven't even thought about starting to plow. I imagine 'll be out there most of the day digging out they are saying we only got a foot last night but it sure seems like a lot more. Calling for another 2-6 inches. Hope not.
Good luck everyone, stay warm.

This just in: Groundhog does not see shadow, predicts early spring. However, he's only been right 39% of the time...

Well, so far so good. We've made it through with power which is all I was hoping for. Had one tree come down (on the part of the property I can see, I don't know about elsewhere) and of course it had to come down in the one 6 foot section of the tree line where it could do some damage. Fell right on the dog kennel that I use for temporarily holding birds.

I'm not going to complain about that too much though cause if it'd fallen 10 feet to the north it'd have been on my greenhouse. Sucks to have the kennel broken, but it's better than having the greenhouse broken.

Other than that just a lot of drifts -- most 4-6 feet tall -- and all the animals fared through the night just fine.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I told my hubby that he didn't see his shadow and my youngest (6) looks up and said "Well yeah! He probably couldn't even get out of his hole!"

I was reading the WOODTV weather blog the other day and the meteorologist said regardless of what Phil says we should expect at least 6 more weeks of winter, and that he predicts more like 7 more weeks plus a cool(er than last year) summer.

haha I'd take you up on that offer, but for once we have more of something than we do roosters!! lol

Aric just went to town because the belt on the snow blower busted. Ugh if it's not one thing it's another! Ducks are out having a great time but the chickens are locked up. Aric won't let me go out there he says it's too dangerous for me. But it's bugging me! I have half the mind to go out there and clear out the runs but I could just see me hurting myself less than 24 hours from surgery! lol. Speaking of which, so far no call to cancel surgery, but I don't know how clear the roads will be by then. My nerves are definitely on end!!
