LOL! A woman after my own heart. 12 varieties of tomatoes here this year. And it's only February which means we'll end up with at least 15. I really, really forced myself to show some restraint this year, too.

If it's not too early for it when we exchange roos this year remind me and I'd be happy to provide just a couple seedlings for you, if you'd like to have just a container or two on your deck this summer.

Not that I want to be an enabler or anything but I can probably spare a seedling or two...
LOL!

Oh, that sounds great! I was thinking I should at least have a couple of tomato plants on the balcony since DH loves fresh tomatoes. I planted about 80 tomato plants last year

FunnyBunnies, it's not easy to restrain myself but I do since DH would have to pick up the slack if/when I cannot. So far I have not had to ask him to take care of the chickens at all, just had to get him to build/remodel the coop.

A couple in pots shouldn't be too bad and hey, if they do become too much, you can always just forget about it and what's the worst that happens? They die and stop producing. No biggie.

I'm with your DH on the fresh tomatoes though. Bliss. Absolute bliss. I could live on tomato sandwiches all summer if I didn't have to cook for the rest of the family.

I loooove tomato sandwiches! DH likes the sweet 100's for taco salads.

FunnyBunnies, I understand, it must be hard to have DH so far away

I got the chickens after my kids moved out [moved back in, and moved back out]. I don't have a problem with empty nest syndrome. However the chickens have kept me going, making me do and I have enjoyed them!

My nest is full, you're welcome to come here and I'll go on vacation if it'll make you feel better. I mean... it would be a sacrifice... but I'd do it for a fellow BYCer.

Well my Michigander peeps, looks like we may have to hunker down come Monday again! I'm putting plastic sheeting over my ducks pen for better protection from the wind, rain, ect. This is from Wood8 Blog. Other then a animal nut, I'm also a weather fanatic!

<- GFS model 00z Feb. 23 run valid for next Monday morning – map from NCEP/NOAA. Heckuva storm here…bringing mostly a cold rain on this model run. The GFS prints out 1.32″ precipitation for Grand Rapids. The European model takes the storm on a more southern route into northern Ohio and that might give us more freezing rain/snow. The FIM would have a rain to snow scenario. That’s a 978 low and it’d make a lot of wind. Stay tuned for later forecasts on this one. In the meantime a dusting of snow (and maybe a drop of freezing rain) Wed. night and a possible 1-2″ snowfall about Saturday. I’ll add more around midday when the new model runs come out.

Man how weather changes so quickly! The ducks handles the winter storm fine, but we didn't have sub 0 temps at night like we do right now at 6:30am! It's only .1 degree outside! They were all hunkering together tightly up against the slider window last night to the patio, so I threw bunch of old blankets down and put up organize it panels and brought them inside. I'm such a sucker but man it did hurt when I walked outside! Looks like Monday we are POTENTIALLY going to get another hilicious(sp) winter snow/ice storm up here in Michigan and surrounding states. NOT fun!! I really need to get me a generator!

Wow....I've been wanting to move downstate for a couple of years now...thinking the weather is better where I grew up in Eaton County than here in the N.W. part of Michigan. You have all made me realize we don't have it that much worse than you. We have lived here since 2003 and the power has been off 1 time!! That must be a real worry with those of you incubating! I heard a nasty rumor we are going to have a cold spring...I sure hope that is not true.
I have my new incubator arriving in March...eggs lined up to purchase from Wynette and it is looking like I may have found a reasonably priced shed to convert locally. Things are shaping up.
Enjoy the day.....hoping for another sunny one like yesterday! Nix on more snow and ice!!
Ps....love all the pictures....the bunny is so adorable and glad Fluffy pants has a home!
