I know the one silkie went broody over wooden eggs last fall/early winter so maybe that's what they are both up to. Neither one is sitting on their eggs for too long, so if they are going broody that haven't gotten fully into it.

Well, hopefully they get past being broody and stop plucking themselves. As silly as they look, they would look even sillier bald.

My silkie that is broody won't sit on the eggs! She pushes them out from under her. Silly girl! Won't count on her to hatch any eggs !

WE GOT DUCK EGGS!

HUGE ones. Now hopefully they will get the others to start. I might pick up some of those plastic easter eggs and put them in the coops. That's what my sister used to do.

Plans are in the works for expanding the duck coop. It's not necessary but I want them to stretch out more. Everyone seems to be getting along great. Tonight we were out shopping (a bit difficult for me after only a month after surgery) and got home late. Aric went to lock everyone up and he said the 3 newbies were laying outside of the coop, as if waiting for permission to go in. As soon as he stepped over the door to the run he said "Go to bed" and they went in lol

The 2 bunnies got to run around in the dog run and officially meet each other. They got along well! I think Elvis is much happier having someone on the other side of the hutch now

Picked up my seeds today because they were dead cheap. We've decided to make our whole garden strictly for the ducks and chickens. The neighbor who owns many acres behind us said we can have a large portion of that too woohoo!! Now if only he'd let me use it for animals. He said I could rent it but I'm waiting to see if I get a job.

Told you they were laying

I keep looking for them when I do a head count and then say, "oh yeah...this is it" lol.

My frizzles eggs should hatch end of the week.

She hasnt moved. I havent seen her stand up even once. I hope she will be able to walk. I took food and water and put it next to the nest because she wasnt coming out at all to eat or drink.

I had to shut the gates and lock everyone up in their own yard. I did let the chicken/ducks run all over my backyard as they pleased but I caught an egg eater. A hundred pound egg eater.
My big ol pit bull.

He walks right over to the rabbit hutch and helps himself. The ducks prefer laying eggs there. The frizzle is on eggs in the coop- noway that big dog could get in there. But, I caught my dog with egg on his face, literally. And then, caught him going over there for more.

I told him that he is lucky I own him. I remember childhood movies where egg thieves were shot

Good morning Michigan BYC'ers! Looking good for getting my incubator running soon...maybe this week! Meanwhile...I'm not going to TS for anything. Last time I went they had baby bunnies there....so cute!

My son has a pitbull and every time he is over I ask him if he wants to see the chickens... his face literally lights up and he is flying to the coop... he loves chasing the chickens... one time one of the chickens got out... and I was upset because it takes me nearly a half hour to chase the thing back in... so I finished feeding and watering... and went back out to get the chicken... There was our "evil Pitbull"... hearding the chicken back to the coop.... I couldn't believe it... It is so incredible how these animals know. "Duke" was first introduced to the chicks when they were a few weeks old... he would lick them.. I told my son.. I hope he doesn't bite!! he never did... every time he comes over... he just loves to see the chickens.. I can't wait for this summer....
