Basically all Polish andGe German foods are the same thing with different names:

Kielbasa = bratwurst
Kapusta = sauerkraut
Peirogi = can't recall word for German dumplings right now

Both like herring, rye bread, beets, cabbage and other stuff that grows well in cold, wet, northenrn Europe

Makes sense. My great grandfather was born in Germany, then they moved the border and it became Poland. Then moved the border back again. Never could figure out if he was German or Polish, I guess!

David managed to give me his cold and I can't believe how much I ache. That's probably a good thing as it makes it much easier to avoid going to Tractor Supply.

Very cute Opa!!
Hope you feel better soon!! Eat som paczki's ....washed down with Krupnick (that may be spelled wrong). It is a Polish liquor with honey in it and our standard med for cough or sore throat.

And you live in MICHIGAN?! That's our state food behind pasties, Kogel hot dogs, Vernors and Blatz beer. Now THERE'S a meal.

Agree with all of the above... except for Blatz..... uck! Maybe it's a resessive gene! LOL! I have already enjoyed my paczki for the day!
My cousins (Nebraska) stock up a few cases of vernors when they come to MI for a visit.

Last summer I was going to the local country corner store and there was a little old woman wrestling with 3 garbage bags of Blatz cans. After helping her, I asked, "Ya Polish?"

"No, but my husband is."

My grandfather affirms that Blatz is the best cheap beer out there.

Even the name sounds hideous.

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone.

16 healthy little turkeys arrived today! Ordered from Meyer Hatchery. Never ever ordered from a hatchery before, so I was nervous hearing some horror stories from others.

My guess on the chicks from TSC on Sunday are 2 Silver duckwing OEG's. Which I'm excited about b/c I have a hen already. Two golden laced seabrights, and 2 porcelain d'Uccles. Never had d'Uccles before so we'll see how those are. Of course I may be wrong on all of them!

Went to TSC tonight and came home with just a few new feeders... It was soo hard they only had 2 bantams left and they were sooooo cute. And the lady says they are the only two left you can have them for .99.........I have 15 coming from Meyer the first week in April so that's whats getting me by. I might go check on them in the morning though....
