The way I see it, no place is perfect. You just gotta pick what you want

We wanted four seasons and some land and lots of water that we didn't have to pay for. Did you know it falls right from the sky around here???? I mean, wow. Plus, being allowed to have the animals we want in a family-friendly environment. I know it's not for everyone, but so far its been great for us

$2.50 but I sell to people that subscribe to my CSA and others in East Lansing that pay more than that for fresh eggs at the supermarket.

Btw, I am making those turkey egg rolls for Chickenstock

Anyone else going to the poultry show in Alma on the 31st?

Something very odd happened tonight.

When Aric went to check on the 3 week old chicks, at first he only noticed one missing...the 3 week old bantam Golden Sebright. Then he noticed one of the 3 week old Buff Orpingtons missing. They were all in a large plastic tote on top of a large shelf/desk in our mud room. After about 5 minutes of looking, he noticed the missing BO on the floor with the top feathers missing...dead. We continued looking for the Sebright when Aric found it OUTSIDE about 8 feet in a tree upside down...dead! WHAT? First of all, it was so tiny that it couldn't get out of the tote much less out the door, 20 feet away from the house and 8 feet into a tree upside down!!

The Sebright was my daughter's first chick of her own. She has several developmental issues, so even though she's 20, she's taking the death of this chick about the way a 5 year old would. I'm not only perplexed as to how the chick got outside, but sad for her. She spent a while picking the chick out and making sure it and the other 5 Buffs were fed and watered. So sad! Hopefully I can find her another one.

Good news is after a week of trying to become friends with Bella the pig, she finally ate out of my hand today!!!

It was HUGE to me!! I sat next to her several times a day, holding my hand out and she must have finally decided I wasn't a threat!!

FINALLY!!!!

Now, I have a question. I posted earlier that one of my Silkies was sitting on 19 eggs. I took all but a handful and put them in the incubator along with a few others. However, I'm not sure how old some of them are. I know a good number of them are developing, and I know I can leave them in there for up to 48 hours after they hatch. But since I don't know how old the others are, would it be safe to take them out even though the others should be in lockdown? Hope that question makes sense.

6 more were added since this pic!
