Some of you might remember, last summer one of my 4 calls suddenly had bleeding wings. After freaking out and posting like crazy here on BYC, I learned it was angel wings. So I wrapped them a few different times and he's been fine since.
Now we all know it's been rainy, etc so all my white birds were filthy! They've washed up good a few times, but it didn't last long before they were muddy all over again. So when one of my snowy calls wasn't getting clean, I sadly didn't think much of it! Til today.
Well, last week I was noticing Sammy would float in the pond but not clean like the others. Again, I thought maybe he was when I wasn't watching. OMG, I feel like a HORRIBLE "mother"!!!
I think he has mites. Or had. I looked him over really well today and didn't see anything moving or anything, but my Poodles are famous for getting fleas every fall so I know the bugs can leave horrible dirt even if you don't always see them. I posted these pics in the duck section and everyone so far agrees it's probably bugs.
Anyone else here have any other ideas or agree? Should I dust them all anyway? I checked over half of my other ducks and no one else seems to have a problem! Can one get it and not the rest? I've done a LOT of research tonight and notice most people use Sevindust. I think someone talked about it here recently but although I read here every day, I haven't been feeling well enough to pay as much attention as I should.
I feel terrible. Poor little Sammy!

I washed Sammy up thinking he was just muddy so that's why his wings are wet

Bottom left. The middle of the top of his wings are hard as a rock! His chest is prickly, not silky at all. But not brownish like the rest of him.
