Thanks everyone!

The ligaments in my thumb were torn while wrestling with my daughter. I should have known better. It's not the first time I've torn ligaments before, but this time it really hurts. But, that's what I get for having had 46 surgeries since I was 5 and a lifetime of taking anti-seizure meds. My body is weak! But I make the mistake sometimes of feeling good and doing things I know I shouldn't. Since a day without pain happens only a few times a year, if that often, I get a little too stupid!

I want to apologize to everyone if I seemed a bit grouchy or whatever. I've been moody since my hysterectomy and since injuring my thumb. Fortunately it's my left thumb and I'm right handed, but there are still many things that require both hands (like my all time favorite past-time - crocheting!) that I can't do anymore. It's been an activity I've used to take my mind off of pain since I was 18!

I told Aric today to keep me off the computer because I needed to stay away and try to mend my emotional state. I think it worked a little. I think I will go to chickenstock, one to meet all these wonderful people (especially opa whom I've taken offense of when I shouldn't have...more than once) and I will have lots of ducklings and chicks to bring along.

I really hope the rain quits soon. Both the chicken and duck runs are mud puddles and everyone is filthy! The ducks had a great time, but not me when it came time for feeding and locking them up! But the nice thing about all the rain is all my flowers are starting to pop through. If we get some sun in the next few days they will really pop! I planted about 10 different sunflowers in about 30 different places. I've never lived anywhere I could have them and Aric gave me the permission to plant whatever wherever!

So tomorrow I have to call a specialist to see if I need surgery. I had my 46th/47th (because I had two surgeries at once) surgeries in February so it's no big deal. In 6th grade I had a brain surgery in Oct, Nov and Dec so having them close together is no big deal either. I'm just a bit tired of them!

Hope everyone had a great weekend despite the rain!

Someday, you will find one who will watch every sunrise with you until the sunset of your life.

I found this picture this morning and thought the sentiment was rather nice. Somehow I think that if I were to find someone who like getting up to watch the sunrise with me Hope would become rather upset.

I answered an ad on Craigslist for someone looking for chickens. He said he would take all my bantams.
I have chosen not to ask him what he plans to do with them, but he told me that he has to finish his coop in the next few days first, so maybe he wont be trying to eat them. I am up to my ears in muscovy ducklings/ducks as well....I think that since everyone on my Michigan thread has shown no interest in some, I am going to have to put an ad on Craigslist for those, as well. That is rather a scary thought- I dont want them to go to people who just want a duckling then plan on dumping the adult.

I am tired of the cold and wet and rain. I work all day, but I will be worrying about my gosling who thinks the weather is fun to play in. I have showed him the nice dry garage- and hope he remembers it is there if he gets chilled. He and his duck buddy seem oblivious to the chilly air this morning.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Another cool, wet day in Ypsilanti. A few days ago it was in the 80"s, sure was a short summer.

Well I may as well jump on the bandwagon too and say

to the spring weather this year!! I spent over an hour covering up things in my gardens (not veggies...I know better than to plant tender veggies until June except for the tomatoes I protect when I plant)
This morning...the birdbath water was frozen SOLID. More frost tonight. I"m OVER the cold weather!
There...I feel better. Plus the sun is out now...that will help.
Opa....Happy that you have assembled a new incubator and that your pretty chicken is broody. I can't remember the name....Voeker??? I DO remember seeing the picture you posted of it a while back.
Keyt....so sorry that you have to go through more pain...that has to be very rough on you.

I have a memorial to go to today...I went on Saturday also. A friends 16 yr. old son was killed in a jeep accident not far from their home. School is closed today. Heartbreaking.

Ok....I'm getting some coffee and hope that the weather man is wrong and that it gets to 70 out today!

My goodness, sooo happy (and yet so busy, moving is always a chore!) since I am less than a week away from finally moving to the UP. I am tired of living in the heart of a city. I need green all around and fresh country air, not concrete and car exhaust! Gotta take a huge load of stuff to goodwill today, old cloths and whatnot. Odd how in between moves you never know how much stuff you have...and then once you have to pack it all up there is so much!

MW, give yourself some time to grieve. It's only been 2 1/2 months. Don't rush things. Allow yourself to feel sad and mad and whatever. It's all natural. You don't get over a love that quickly. The hurt is still so fresh. Don't be afraid to be alone for awhile. Better alone than rushing into something you are not ready for. That could spell more hurt. It seems you think you should be happy by now and moving on. Everyone is different. You'll know when you are ready. Don't be afraid to cry. My mom died over a year ago and I still have crying spells and I miss her still. So, Just give yourself time to heal!

I don't know what I was thinking making the choice to give up caffine, and pop, and all sweets! I worked 12 hours both Saturday and Sunday, and I'm beat!

My company's walls are painted a rather drab off white, and monotone dark beige furniture w/ugly carpet. Since I started working here I've wanted to paint colors on the walls, but was limited to "company colors", orange, bright blue, grey and black. Well NONE of those colors would look good in my building so I said forget it. We hired a new Ops manager and she wanted to do what I wanted to do and she pulled strings for me. Upper management and I had meetings for over a month deciding on what to do, colors etc. So I spent last week prepping walls and fibbing about what I was doing. We decided to fix up our lunch room, so we (upper management came in on Sunday to help paint and set up everything) painted walls, got cafe chairs, 50" tv with an x-box, a huge rug, hanging lights etc. It looks really nice. Everyone is really liking it so far this morning. We also brought in fresh fruits for everyone to enjoy. Now the rest of the building needs some color so I've got my work cut out for me..... but I sure could use a coffee right about now!

Yorkchick... I'm west and tadd south of A2!

Unfortunatly, I cannot help with the chickens you want.

I haven't even gotten my garden in this year. I have a feeling if we have the weather predicted, it won't do that well anyway. We'll probably be planting this coming or next weekend. Then we have to install about 1000 ft of fencing for the dogs and geese areas. I don't look forward to that at all!

Next Saturday we get to pick up our 100 channel cat fish to stock our pond! Can't wait to start catching our own fish in the next couple years!! I also have to make a turtle trap to try to get rid of some of the snappers we have.
